Top 10 Celebrity Latina Moms

Sabrina Young
As a new Latina mamí, I sometimes wonder how celebrity Latinas handle raising their children in America's perpetual spotlight. I have a million questions that I could ask: Will they pass on their heritage to their children? Will they teach their children English or Spanish, or both? Will they celebrate their daughter's quinceñera or her Sweet Sixteen? Will their boys grow up with traditional machismo attitudes or more genteel progressive ones? If they are in an intercultural marriage, how does their partner's culture affect their decisions as a Latina mama?

Just for fun, I would love to have a massive celebrity Latina mama blog where Latina celebrities like Salma Hayek, Camila Alves, Jessica Alba or even Jennifer Lopez can share their own personal mommy experiences. Wouldn't it be great to be able to ask how actresses Christina Milian or Oscar winner Rita Morena balanced work and family life or ask Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen about the fastest way to lose your baby bump? How did a baby affect the public careers of singer superstars Christina Aguilara or Jennifer Lopez? And I would love to ask Camila Alves what it is like being married to Matthew McConaughey or ask Courtney Mazza if steamy beau Mario Lopez's daddy skills are as amazing as his looks.

The Latina Celeb Mama Blog could have an entire section devoted to choosing baby names, from actress Salma Hayek's daughter Valentina to actress Ana Ortiz's daughter Paloma. Jessica Alba can share why she named her daughter "Honor Marie", and supermodel Gisele Bündchen could talk about naming her son Brady Benjamin after daddy Tom Brady. There could even be a forum for moms who don't know whether to go with traditional Spanish names like "Juan" or "Maria" or go with the more Americanized "John" and "Mary". And Mexican superstar Thalia can gush about naming her daughter the simply poetic name "Sabrina". (Okay, maybe "Sabrina" is not the most poetic name in the world, but it's a good name and it's my name.)

While the Latina Celeb Mama Blog remains to be a figment of my overactive imagination, some celebrity Latina moms do have their own online destinations. Jessica Alba's My Space page boasts over 75000 friends and the Official Jennifer Lopez site offers a community web page that at the least lets Lopez's fans gush and speculate about the Puerto Rican diva. But for now, most Latina celebrity moms have decided to keep their lives personal and, as much as possible, offline, and I am stuck looking to TMZ or People to find my answers.
