10. Does dad have that long zip up suit bag in the closet still from the 1970's? Fill that bag with gifts. Trust me, the kids are not going to care less about dad's fashion suicide days. Especially when it's deep back in the closet where it's been for 40 years. My father had an Indian Guides vest with the Don't Tread on Me Snake logo stuffed in a hanging bag. We left it alone because it was cheesy at that time, but dad knew something we didn't.
9. So, you put up those Christmas decoration and Junior was there to witness you take everything out of those boxes. When Junior isn't looking fill those boxes up with gifts and seal them shut. As far an Junior knows, he seen nothing re-enter the boxes before you stored them away.
8. There is nothing cooler than a cooler to pack wrapped gifts into. Simply stack old items on top to divert any gift searching attention.
7. Luggage is not just for traveling. Place wrapped gifts in luggage bags. The kids will walk by them faster than you can say "Merry Christmas."
6. In the trunk of your car. Now my folks did this before then hid the car keys as reassurance.
5. Attic is a great place to keep gifts away from short people. However, you may want to latch the door shut so that no one can open up the door but you. A little lesson my brother taught me when he was twelve when he manually climbed into the attic after our parents removed the stairs to keep us from finding the gifts. The only problem was that when mom and dad came back from the store, he fell into a panic and got stuck in the attic opening and was left hanging. So, always lock that door and hide that key!
4. In black trash bags under the bed. Oh yes, the storage display. My folks always managed to bore us in searches by placing storage in trash bags and gifts in the same type of bags. After finding summer clothes, we searched those bags no more.
3. The gift mixing trick is a classic way to hide gifts. Wrap each gift and put another persons name on it. There was a year I couldn't believe that my sister was getting my Barbie Convertible. Turns out it was mine! You can also put colored tags without names on them and keep a listing of what color belongs to who out of the eyes of children.
2. Another relative or friend's closet. Deploying gifts is not such a bad idea, as long as you can trust the other person with them.
1. The old dirty storage trick works wonders. Place a large box in a corner with junk on the top, but inside are all the wrapped gifts. Trust me, the kid is not going to move all the junk if there is dust floating around. So, sprinkle a little dust on top of the large box harboring gifts.
Merry Christmas!
