Top 10 Christmas Rap Songs

Rap music has come a long way since its humble beginnings in the Burroughs of New York. Although it has garnered a reputation for having violent or sexually explicit lyrics, that's only one very small aspect of rap. The lyrics within rap songs vary greatly and cover a wide range of topics. One of my favorite topics has always been rap songs with a holiday theme; Christmas more specifically. Christmas Rap Songs have managed to stand the test of time and tend to cover a wide variety of concepts while addressing the holiday itself. Some have been about the Christmas spirit, some have been about Christmas vacation, some have been about Christmas icons. Here is the list of the Best of the Best.

Top 10 Christmas Rap Songs

#1 Christmas in Hollis - Run DMC
This song has a real jazzy, fun feel to it. No profanity and memorable lines. This is definitely the BEST and the most memorable Christmas Rap song of them all.

#2 Christmas Rappin' - Kurtis Blow
If you've never listened to Kurtis Blow, then you are missing something special. His rhyme delivery is always on point and this holiday diddy is a true story about how he spends his Christmas.

#3 Xmas Rap - Treacherous Three feat. Doug E. Fresh
This old school song is a different take on Christmas. This song illustrates the frustration of poor youths when Santa Claus never comes to visit them. That's right... they are dissin' Santa because Santa ain't never do anything for them!!!

#4 Santa Baby - Rev Run, Puff Daddy, Ma$e, Salt N Pepa
This song is a Hip Hop spin of the classic Santa Baby song. This medley of stars gets together and drops their version of holiday cheer. The music on this song is funky and uses the original verse as the refrain.

#5 Chillin' With Santa - Derek B
This young rapper never got a lot of attention throughout the nation, but his skills are undeniable as he rides the drum beats to perfection. The 80s never sounded better.

#6 Dana Dane is Coming to Town - Dana Dane
Known for his unique delivery and ever-present braggadocio, Dana Dane does not disappoint on this one. This holiday special is typical Dana Dane with great rhythm and humorous lines.

#7 Merry Mutha****** Xmas - Easy-E
This Christmas song is more on the edgier side. But what else would you expect from the former band leader of the NWA. I guess this proves that Christmas is for the hardcore homies too!

#8 It's Christmas Time - Jim Jones, Sandman, Esso Mel Matrix
One of the more modern songs on this list, the music of this song is an ode to one of the classic Christmas Rap songs. The flows are slick and the swagger is definitely tight.

#9 Santa Claus - Guap-A-Holics (Gucci Man & Shawty Lo)
This song is probably an unexpected entry on this list, but it definitely belongs here. The music is from a modern hit record by Shawty Lo. These two Atlanta Hip Hop up & comers have created a holiday anthem for the new generation of music fans with their unique southern slang.

#10 Ballin' On Xmas - Jim Jones
This song is the last entry in this Top 10 and managed to out-do several other worthy rap songs. But good music is simply good music. Jim Jones drops quite a few hot verses on this, but it's the music that makes this song very worthy of top 10 billing.
