Top 10 Christmas Songs for Your Holiday Party

Tracy DeLuca
We spend hours worrying about what food to serve at our Christmas parties and days decorating. But, sometimes music takes a backseat to all of the other preparations. Rather than pop in that CD of The Chipmunks or your parent's Christmas Music collection, maybe you should find some more contemporary options for your party this year. Here, I have compiled a list of my top ten songs for a contemporary, upbeat play list for any Christmas party.

1. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas by Christina Aguilera. This is a festive, fun and upbeat version of a traditional song. I love this version, it makes me want to dance every time I hear it!

2. It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year by Amy Grant. Her beautiful voice and contemporary phrasing makes this a keeper for sure.

3. Winter Wonderland by Amy Grant. This is a traditional song sung by a gorgeous voice. What more can I say?

4. All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey. A lovely song that makes my feet tap and a smile grow on my face. This is a great song with a fast beat and a pretty sound.

5. Let It Snow by Jessica Simpson. Jazzy, fun and upbeat, this song is perfect for parties. A great version and Jessica Simpson does it quite well.

6. Baby It's Cold Outside by Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey. The traditional give and take, romantic song for any winter party is really sung well by these two. This song would make any couple snuggle up and dance!

7. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause by Amy Winehouse. Amy Winehouse's soulful voice makes this song a hit. The playful tone of the song combines with her bluesy, jazzy take to make this a party must.

8. Santa Baby by the Pussycat Dolls. While not quite as sexy as Marilyn Monroe, The Pussycat Dolls do a great job on this one. All of the men will be wishing for a Santa suit!

9. Jingle Bell Rock by Billy Idol. Billy Idol does a great job with this one. His voice and the light tone of the song make it fun and sassy! The guitar is just perfect, not too heavy.

10. Run Rudolph Run by Billy Idol. Fun and fabulous! Perfect for dancing and a perfect song for any holiday party. A slightly harder and faster song than many of the others on this list, it breaks up the list a little.

These are only ten of my favorite contemporary Christmas Party songs, but you can find many others by your favorite artists! For your holiday party this year, throw out the Chipmunks and add in some rock and roll!
