Top 10 Christmas Songs for Kids and Why We Love Them

The Ten Best Songs of the Season for Kids!

Angie LeCroy
Christmas is just around the corner. Soon the airwaves will be filled with the sounds of cherished Christmas songs. If your kids want hear some Christmas songs just for them, then don't miss my top 10 Christmas songs for kids list below:

#1 Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer - Delighting children since 1949, Rudolph is still a favorite Christmas song for kids of all ages. I don't know a child that can't recite the "batman smells" version of this song ranking it as the best song on my list.

#2 Up on the Housetop - Christmas songs that add in hand motions are always a hit with children. I still have fond memories of teaching my children this Christmas song when they were toddlers. As teenagers, I still catch them doing the hand motions when no one is looking. Watching my teens act like kids again makes this my number two song on the Christmas songs list.

#3 Frosty the Snowman - The theme song for this popular Christmas movie rounds out number 3 on my top 10 Christmas Songs for Kids. Memories of Frosty gliding along the snow with his corncob pipe and button nose delight kids of all ages. Tears still well up in my eyes when he melts into a puddle of water.

#4 Twelve Days of Christmas - This tongue-twister is the perfect song for energetic children. Songs that you can sing loudly with your family always make the list of top music for kids.

#5 Jingle Bells - Every elementary school Christmas play for generations has featured children holding bells and singing this song. Trying to get kids to learn more than the first verse can be a challenge. But this time honored tradition is a must on our song list.

#6 Chipmunks: The Christmas Song - The Chipmunks are back with a second movie coming out on Christmas Day 2009. Kids worldwide have added a plane that loops the loop and a hula hoop to their Christmas lists once again. Parents will agree with this one - as the Chipmunks were a favorite in their youth too.

#7 Santa Claus Is Coming To Town - Since Santa only makes his trip once a year, kids love hearing this song as they prepare for Santa's arrival. Dreams of sugar plums will dance through their heads if you add song number seven to your Christmas song list.

#8 We Wish You a Merry Christmas - If you have ever gone caroling with your family, this song is always one of the first songs to sing. Figgy pudding hasn't been on the Christmas dinner table in a long time, but this song is still a kid's favorite.

#9 All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth - Since children are in the tooth losing stage, adding this song to the Top 10 song list is a no-brainer. If you've ever watched a toothless grin singing this song, then you will understand why it is number nine of the best of the best list.

#10 Have a Holly Jolly Christmas - Number ten was a hard pick for the list. I ended up choosing this song to round out my Top 10 Christmas Songs for Kids list because it's just so darn catchy. I can't get it out of my head the entire season.

Sounds of the season will fill the air before you know it. If you add my top 10 Christmas songs to your playlist, your kids will delight in the sounds of the season all winter long.
