Top 10 Dance Songs

Having Some Friends Over? What to Blast!

Lars Yuan
Ever wondered what will keep the party going into the wee hours of the morning? Here is my top ten list. None of these are dance mixes of pop songs, but great, timeless dance songs of our time that are often the biggest hit in its artist's career. Just remember, crank the volume all the way up.

10. "Can't Get You Out of My Head" - Kylie Minogue

This infectious tune finally brought Kylie mainstream popularity in the United States after many years of only enjoying success overseas. From Fever.

9. "Castles in the Sky" - Ian van Dahl

Armed with their female vocalist's sweet voice, the Belgian group is best known for this 2001 Summer hit. From Ace.

8. "Toxic" - Britney Spears

This Grammy-winning track launched Spears back on top of the worldwide charts. Its ferocious strings and Britney's seductive approach make it easy to see how. From In The Zone.

7. "Something" - Lasgo

Still a staple on dance radio, this nostalgic song is still as moving as it was when it first came out in 2001. Their single, "Alone" is also a worthy pick. Both from Some Things.

6. "Hot in Herre" - Nelly

"It's getting' hot in here / So take off all your clothes." Enough said. The song bought Nellyville up the charts.

5. "Everytime We Touch" - Cascada

The top 10 hit was inescapable on dance and pop formats in 2005. From Everytime We Touch.

4. "Smack My Bitch Up" - The Prodigy

The highly controversial track from British big beat band, released 1997. From The Fat of the Land.

3. "Around the World (La La La La La)" - ATC

The group took the world by storm with this single in 2000, which was adapted from "Pesenka" by Ruki Vverkh. From Planet Pop.

2. "Better Off Alone" - Alice DeeJay

A beautiful, mostly instrumental piece that borrows lyrics from the Eurythmics song "Here Comes The Rain Again." From Who Needs Guitars Anyway? With songs like this, seriously, who does?

1. "Barbie Girl" - Aqua

Coming in at number 1, Aqua's funny, absolutely irresistible record is a guilty pleasure. The band recently reunited and the song can be heard constantly on New York's number one hit radio station, Z100. From Aquarium.

Other Recommendations:

"Dragostea din tei" - O-Zone

Caused the Numa Numa phenomenon.

"Milkshake" - Kelis

Responsible for putting Kelis on the map.

"Hey Ya!" - Outkast

The number one hit song, which also happens to be Avril Lavigne's favorite party song.
