Top 10 Deadliest Catch Quotes

Since the debut of reality television, few programs have captured the imagination of Deadliest Catch. Not only is it one of the few reality shows that isn't scripted, it throws viewers into the difficult and often deadly world of crab catching. Bearing less-than-desirable conditions and going on almost no sleep, the men crewing the various vessels on the hit program show the extreme lengths they are willing to go through in order to reel in a large pot and fill their quota. Over the past several seasons there have been some memorable quotes, both in preparation for embarking and while in the thick of a monster catch. These are some of the best that have made it past the studio's cutting room:

Sig Hansen: "Today is a spend some money, smoke some cigarettes, drink some caffeine day today."

Sten Skaar: "It's good to be scared, it's good to be afraid. If you weren't afraid then I'd be concerned."

Phil Harris: If you want to be stressed out, you want to be cranky, hungry, tired...run a crab boat. The funny part about it is, I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Phil Harris: "Now my advice to anyone that wants to do this is stay in school. Learn to be something, cause this will kill ya. This isn't for everybody, you gotta be a little bit twisted to do this job."

Russ Bewberry: We don't like it when it's sunny. Turns us into cry babies.

Edgar Hansen: There are three ways to do things on this boat: the right way, the wrong way, and the Norwegian way."

Eric Abrahamson: I would describe the bait boy process as being swallowed by a seagull and having to live inside its stomach for three or four days."

Cache Seel: I really think it bears knowing that anyone never having been in the situation, could never possibly know how bad every fiber of your being is begging you to give up and go to sleep. They are trying to talk you out of life."

Keith Colburn: It only takes one bad wave to ruin you day."

Russell Newberry: This skipper is nothing but a deckhand with no brains

Although there have been dozens of lines that struck a cord with viewers, these are some of the ten best. Of course Deadliest Catch has not complete its run as a primetime reality television program, so we can expect more classic one-liners and heralding comments in the seasons to come. If you are new to the world of Deadliest Catch or are behind in a season, turn to the Discovery channel for reruns of past episodes, or go out and purchase the last season on DVD at your local electronics store.
