10 Tips to Use Less Gas

1. Don't drive if you can walk. Walking is great exercise, and if you walk the half-mile to the store or the library, that's that much gas you don't have to buy.

2. Only fill your car in the early morning when the ground temperature is cooler and there is less vapor and more gas going into your car.

3. Be aware that the trigger on the gas nozzle has three modes: slow, medium, and fast. Use the slow mode (only press once) and there will be less loss of gas to vapor as you pump.

4. Keep your tires properly inflated and make sure they are the right tires for your vehicle.

5. Keeping your car clean on the outside saves gas by decreasing wind resistance, much like a swimmer shaving his body.

6. Repair any body damage such as dents and dings to your car. Not only will it look better but it will be more aerodynamic and thus save gas.

7. Combine trips whenever possible. Think about your route, and try to make all necessary stops in one trip.

8. Fill up when your tank is half full. There is less empty air in the tank, and therefore less gas lost to vapor.

9. Use Gasbuddy.com to find the least expensive gas stations in your area. Those pennies really add up! For instance, today there is a difference of 36 cents a gallon between the least expensive and the most expensive gas stations in my zip code!

10. Don't speed up to stop people from "cutting in." Let them go ahead; save yourself stress and gas!
