Great Wolf Lodge
Great Wolf Lodge is more of a destination than a simple motel, but it is certainly one of the most family friendly accommodations around. With rooms especially geared towards children like the Wolf Den themed suite, nightly stories told around the lobby fireplace and a huge selection of children's activities, Great Wolf Lodge does family friendly guest services right.
Fairfield Inn
All around the country, the vast majority of visitors to Fairfield Inn recommend it is a very family friendly hotel. Many Fairfield Inns have arcade rooms and pools that feature water slides and arcade games, and the friendly staff are approachable by guests of any age.
Days Inn
I remember staying at many a Days Inn during family vacations as a child and always greeting their logo of a rising sun with a little smile. Days Inn has maintained it's family friendly reputation into the modern day by providing a staff that knows how important it is to treat the entire family right. Most Days Inns don't have many children's activities, but they always seem very welcoming to family guests.
La Quinta
Affordable and increasingly ubiquitous, La Quinta Inn is consistently ranked as a family friendly hotel by reviews in newspapers, travel sites and Google Maps. In my experience, one of the option of having adjoining rooms is particularly well laid out at La Quinta, where you can have one room for the parents adjoining a room for the kids with a living room area.
Hyatt Hotels and Resorts
USA Today includes Hyatt Resorts as one of the best family-friendly hotels around, and for good reason. Amongst a handful of family amenities, children at many resorts are invited to participate in Camp Hyatt, a program that highlights some of the historical, natural and cultural details about the region.
Ritz Carlton
On the upper scale of family friendly hotels, the Ritz Carlton delivers exceptional guest services designed to satisfy both children and parents. Family website Car and Caboodle praises the Ritz Carlton for it's organized children's activities, kid friendly restaurant and a staff that is great with young people. For more information on family accommodations at the Ritz Carlton, visit their website here.
Four Seasons Hotels
Four Seasons is another highly rated hotel that prides itself on delivery exceptional service to the entire family. There are a whole host of free children's activities at the family friendly Four Seasons Hotels, as well as special services for every child guest to impart a youthful impression of luxury that vary from location to location. The Hawaii Four Seasons offers various lessons and volcano activities, while others offer local teen advice from the Four Season Teen Concierge.
Disney Resorts
Disney Resorts are family friendly in that they are both great with welcoming their younger guests, who are excited about visiting the theme park, and they are renowned for creating a relaxing and luxurious resort, proving that a trip to Disney isn't just for the kids.
Loews Hotels
I've yet to see a large or small list of family friendly hotels that did not include Loews Hotels. One of nice family amenities that Loews offers is a lending library of toys and games available in the lobby of the hotel.
Residence Inn
If you are traveling somewhere for an extended stay, Residence Inn is a extended stay hotel that is often cited as being particularly welcoming to children. I'm not aware of any specific family programs in place, but they have earned a reputation for being one of the top hotels to choose from if you are relocating or traveling with children for an extended stay.
