Top 10 Favorite Christmas Songs

Pamela Pleasant
Following a night of opening presents and spending time with my family, I usually enjoy Midnight mass at my local church. I really love all the Christmas songs the choir sings.

That isn't the only time I enjoy Christmas songs and carols. I like to listen while I am preparing cookies, or wrapping presents. It really gets me into the mood and the spirit of Christmas. Here are some of my favorite Christmas songs.

"Noel"- Is a beautiful song putting Christmas into it's proper perspective. It is about the story of Jesus being born. It reminds of that Christmas isn't all about Santa clause and getting presents.

"Rudolph the red nosed reindeer" and "Santa clause is coming to town"- Always remind me of the stories of Christmas. I remember learning all these stories when I was young, and they fascinated me. They made me stay up every year, trying to meet Santa Clause.

Another two of my favorites would have to be " Mr. Grinch" and "Frosty the snowman". As well as listening to the songs, I could never miss these classic animations every year. I grew up on them and continue to watch still to this day.

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" and "White Christmas"- Have always held a special meaning for me. They remind me of some of the first Christmases I can remember. Before My grand parents died our whole family gathered together. Cousins, aunts and uncles in a huge group. I rarely see them anymore, but thanks to these songs, they are still very much in my heart.

"Grandma got run over by a reindeer" and " All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth"- Always make me laugh every time I hear them. They bring humor to the season. I like to enjoy them after a stressful shopping day at the mall.

My all time favorite Christmas song is "Silent night". After all the food is eaten, and all the presents are unwrapped. After all my family has left and I am sitting there alone, I listen to this song. Taking a moment to be thankful for everything I have, and then I fall asleep in heavenly peace.

I've interviewed Dr. Elmo of Granma Got Run Over by a Reindeer a couple of times for my radio show. I only have to tell him it's the guy that ran Grandma 310 times in a row at his college radio station and, amazingly, he remembers me.
