Top 10 Favorite Facebook Applications

Lauren Stewart
Alright, so if you're a Facebook junkie like me, you probably already have a list of your favorite applications. Chances are they will be the same as mine. But if you're new to Facebook and haven't quite figured things out, this list is for you!

In no particular order...

1. Events. These notifications are lovely for planning events or getting information in seconds. Not only can you create an event, invite all your friends, give all the details in minutes...people can RSVP, add photos, or say why they can't make it to your shindig. You can also keep track of what's going on when with event reminders at the side of your home page. Makes it super easy to remember to go to your friend's birthday party and not have to ask a million times where it's at or at what time.

2. Photos. This one is simple. You upload photos into photo albums and check out your friend's photos. The great news is they recently changed it so you can upload way more photos in your album than ever before. The bad news is all the controversy that goes on with Facebook owning your photos and how people get into trouble from there. So just be sure to keep those keg stand pictures off there or censored. Future job seekers might not appreciate that when they google you.

3. Bumper Stickers. These are just really entertaining. Anyone can upload a funny photo or quote and you can send these to your friends. Great for time wasting and sending cute quotes to your boyfriend or girlfriend. :)

4. Notes. You can do surveys to pass the time, tell all your friends what you're up to, or ask questions where people can comment and interact. Another cool feature with notes is that you can set it up so whenever you update your blog, it shows up on Facebook notes. Neat trick for all you fellow bloggers, eh?

5. Farmtown. Another time waster. Similar to Farmville, you can plant veggies, flowers, plow, harvest, buy cool stuff for your farm and interact with other users. If it sounds lame, it pretty much is... but beware, it surely is addicting.

6. Addicted to... * You can add applications that follow your favorite TV shows. For example, I have added Addicted to Scrubs, because well, I am. They have virtually every TV show out there. You can do trivia questions, find out information on your favorite show, look at pictures, take quizzes, and more. Pretty cool for couch potatoes or someone with a passion for a certain show.

7. Video. This one is pretty self-explanatory. Upload your favorite videos and share them with your friends. Check out what your friends are posting.

8. Word Challenge. For about 2 months my boyfriend was addicted to this game. You try to unscramble as many words as you can in a time limit (or not) and for those with a passion for words or with a competitive streak, this may be the game for you.

9. Marketplace. This is a helpful tool for those with many Facebook friends. You can swap or sell on here and it is a great idea for college kids trying to sell their textbooks. Chances are, you've got a lot of college friends who might need the book. Also great for searching for things you need/want. Think craigslist, Facebook style.

10. And lastly, Pages. While pages can be quite annoying...you know you have that friend who is a "fan" of snuggling, chocolate milk, and not dying...they can be fun. I myself created a fan page for me (talk about narcissistic), but really it is a great way to get your blogging, art, movies, or whatever you create out there in the Facebook atmosphere. And it is a fun way to share with your friends what interests you and what you like. You might be surprised by what they are a fan of.
