The first feature to discuss is the ribbon. In Office 2007, the ribbon not available in all the office programs are now included in all versions of the Office 2010 product line. A good example of this was Outlook, where the tool bar was the older version. Even the add-on items such as Project and Visio include the new ribbon standard.
The new office offers a protected view for all documents that you open from within email or the web. When you open a document, you view the document in a preview mode, which allows you to view and read, but not edit. This is huge, as this can reduce the macro viruses that have plagued the internet for years.
There are more theme options in the new version, and the themes are universal between the different applications. Therefore, if you use a theme in Excel, and then copy that data to Word, the theme of font settings, colors, etc will travel with the item that have been pasted.
Have you ever wondered what the document will look like once you paste information from another source into your document? Now with Paste Preview, you will see what your document would look like before you paste the data into it, by hovering over the area you wish to paste; you will get a preview look at how the doc would appear.
Outlook offers a new conversation view. With just a click, you can see all the emails that pertain to a single thread or conversation topic. This feature also allows you to select conversations and place them into an ignore state so they no longer clutter your screen.
Do you like to stay connected to all your friends and social media sites? Well Social Connector was designed for you. With just a little configuration, you can use this feature to keep track of conversations from particular sites.
Do you have a special way of dealing with your email? The Quick Steps feature will help you create mini macros that will mimic your movements, so all new emails can be processed the same way.
The new PowerPoint program will allow you to embed video into your presentation. This new feature can enhance any presentation. PowerPoint includes a few editing tools will allow you to trim and adjust brightness, etc.
To help deliver your presentation to the new client across the country is the Broadcast slideshow feature. This allows you to broadcast over the internet; one will need a Live ID for this feature to work.
If you are like me you hate dealing with having to gather and use screen shots, the new office includes a screenshot feature that allows you to capture screen shots from within your document. You can even choose what data you want to include.
