Free Arts and Craft Crochet Patterns

Learning to crochet is not very hard and a quick search on the internet can find you a lot of places that can help you learn. Once you know what to do the next thing to thing about is the patterns that you would like to try. The problem with this is that it is very hard to get free crochet patterns.

If you try hard enough however you will come across some great websites that have great crochet patterns for all sorts of projects. You can stick to a simple scarf or you can crochet an afghan or you can even crochet a sweater or other clothing item.

Crochet patterns will usually give you a list of the colors that are needed to make the item that you plan to crochet but in the truth is, you can use whatever colors you feel like. Try to keep with the certain type of crochet yarn and crochet needle that is needed but feel free to experiment with the different colors and have some fun.

Crochet yarn is not cheap but you can always save money by trying to catch some of the sales that craft stores have. Many times there are buy one get one free deals on yarn and that is a great opportunity to get a bunch of them to be able to finish your project. Another way to save money on yarn is to go to a place like Goodwill, Church sale, garage sale and even stop by EBay. These are just some of the places where you will find bags of yarn for sale at a very low price.

On the inside cover of almost all yarn is usually a free pattern and if you check the same places I mentioned above for the crochet yarn, you will be sure to find crochet patterns that are very cheap to buy. Also try libraries because many tend to have book sales and you might find a crochet pattern book or you can even borrow a library pattern book and simply photocopy the pattern that you want to make.

A few years ago there were simply not a lot of websites that offered free arts and craft instructions and the ones that did wanted you to pay for them. While there are still crochet pay sites there are also a lot of sites that give away free patterns. At many of these sites you will also find directions on making other arts projects that you might enjoy. Some crochet sites also deal with needlepoint, knitting and even sewing. Below are a few great sites where you can find free crochet patterns. There a lot more sites that can be found by searching the keywords "free crochet pattern".

I love crochet pattern central, they link you to hundreds of free patterns in hundreds of designs. FYI Another way to get cheap yarn for small projects is to check the "leftover" bin at a craft store. A lot of yarn is made in dye lots and when the store gets to low on a lot, or gets a new shipment they move these leftover pieces to a special part of the store and discount tremendously.
