Top 10 Girls Weekend Getaway Road Trip Songs

For Women Who Sing in the Car

Susi Frock
When planning a long road trip it is essential to have good music to listen to in the car. Music that's too fast can make you speed; too slow and you fall asleep. Everyone has their tried and true favorites: "Sweet Home Alabama," "Bohemian Rhapsody," or "This Land is Your Land." But for a girls only weekend getaway you need a playlist on your iPod that you can all sing along to. Here are ten songs to take along on your next woman only road trip and help you channel your inner goddesses.

Spice Girls, "Stop" from Spiceworld

"Slow it down Baby, have some fun!" That's all this song is. Just plain fun, like a good road trip should be.

Abba, "Dancing Queen" from Arrival

For the woman who inside is still a girl, "young and sweet, only seventeen." Take some time to choreograph an in-car dance routine!

Joan Jett, "I Love Rock and Roll" title track from I Love Rock and Roll

Instant biker chic, for the good girls in the car who secretly want to be a little bit bad. Crank this song up, open the sunroof, and put another dime in the jukebox as you cruise down the road!

Edie Brickell, "What I Am" from Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars

"Shove me in the shallow water before I get too deep." A debate about the actual meaning of this song's lyrics will eat up at least 30 miles of your trip, maybe more.

Bonnie Tyler, "Holding out for a Hero" from the Footloose soundtrack

"Where have all the good men gone?" Somebody on your trip is getting over a messy breakup or having romantic troubles. Sing it with them, sister!

Jem, "It's Amazing" from Down to Earth

After appearing on the Sex and the City soundtrack, this song acquired instant girl mojo. "It's amazing, all that you can do!"

Meatloaf, "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" from Bat out of Hell

"Do you love me? Will you love me forever?" A great duet with Meatloaf and Karla De Vito, and a good long song to get you a ways down the road.

Eurhythmics, "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" title track from Sweet Dreams album

The perfect song for everyone who's looking for something, travelling the world and the seven seas.

Queen, "Killer Queen"from Sheer Heart Attack

All girls need a gay male friend to consult with. Here is some very stylish advice on where to keep your Moet and Chandon ("in a pretty cabinet") and a reminder that you can be sweet AND dynamite with a laser beam.

Bananarama, "Venus" from Bananarama

Remember when you hear this song that YOU are a "goddess on a mountain top, burning like a silver flame."

Enjoy your trip!
