We are half way through the month of October but that still leaves plenty of time for some good old fashioned hauntings. Whether you live in a major city in Texas or one of the many small towns across the state, there is sure to be a haunted house near you.
1. Haunted High - Denison, Texas
www.hauntdenison.com
Experience the shock and terror of The Denison Haunted High one last time. The building is set to be demolished after the Halloween season. This year they will be using ALL wings of the building, including the infamous auditorium, the most haunted area of the building. The school building site dates to 1873. The current structure dates to 1914. It is over 44,000 square feet, 3 stories tall. It was last used as a school in 1986. They use all 3 stories for the haunted house.
2. Reindeer Manor - Red Oak, Texas
www.reindeermanor.com
Reindeer Manor is a Real Haunted House located on the outskirts of Dallas with a truly haunted past which has been open to the public for 30 seasons. They were one of the first and are one of the oldest haunted attractions in the state of Texas.
Take heed, for this is no mere sideshow for the entertainment of the living. It is, in fact, the living night terrors of the dead. Its owner, James Sharp was a collector of all things dark. In his deepening lunacy he gathered to his home an array of guests who's unspeakable trespasses drove him over the edge until even his family was not safe from his dark deeds. He was the father of many children, both his own and wayward youth whom he ensnared and took under his dark wing. He and his sinister house guests poisoned the children's minds and warped their souls until they were but cruel caricatures of the innocent beings they once were.
Soon, though the insanity over took him and he was found hanged in the barn and his wife dead in the grand dining room from poison. The demented spawn and the inhuman guests scattered to remote places and the Manor grounds fell silent. However, the memory of those shadows still possess the Great House of the Manor to this day and your trek through its dark halls will awaken all manner of dark remembrances.
You see... this Great House of the Manor is locked in the realm of shadow between wakefulness and fitful nightmare. As you enter, slumber slowly opens your eyes until you experience just the smallest fraction of the sorrow these walls have endured over the past century and the darkness consumes you.

Cold.
Endless winding pathways.
"Movie Monsters in 3D" houses some of the creepiest artwork on earth. Some say, this haunted house rises to a level of its own. But, I'll let you be the judge.

www.hauntedhousetexas.com
On the afternoon of August 18, 1973 five young people in a Volkswagon van ran out of gas on a farm road in Central Texas. Four of them were never seen again. The next morning the one survivor, Sally Hardesty Enright, was picked up wandering in a roadside rest area on I-35. Blood caked and screaming murder, she said she had broken out of a window in Hell. The girl babbled a mad tale. A cannibal family in a isolated farmhouse... Chain sawed fingers and bones... her brother and her friends hacked up for barbeque... chairs made of human skeletons... Then she sank into catatonia. Texas lawmen mounted a month long manhunt, but could not locate the macabre farmhouse. They could not find the killers or the victims. No facts, no crime. Officially, on the records, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre never happened. However during the last 3 decades, over and over again reports of bizarre, grisly chainsaw mass murders have persisted all along the I-35 corridor. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has not stopped. It haunts Texas. IT SEEMS TO HAVE NO END. This haunted house depicts some of the event that are said to have taken place on that fateful night.

Great article! There are also a lot at Galveston.. they even have "haunted" tours! Great writing!
Gads, I'm bad at not finishing my sentences. The apartment above me is now empty and at night I hear bumps, bangs, furniture moving and other things. According to the local historians, this was once a battlefield 150 years ago and before that, Comanches lived here. This area has changed hands frequently over the last two hundred years.
Try exploring some of the areas in Houston. I live in a haunted apartment complex and since I'm accustomed to ghosts, these do not frighten me. I went through the local historians and ghost hunters and found out quite a lot that is very interesting other than the very audible sounds and appearances.
this is bogus
