Top 10 Highest Grossing Films from Paramount Studios

Lee Andrew Henderson
One of the most popular movie studios is Paramount Pictures. In 2008, Paramount Pictures had one of their best years, yet. From the Dreamworks division Kung Fu Panda was the 6th highest grossing movie of 2008. On top of that, Paramount Pictures had the third and second highest grossing films of 2008 in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Iron Man. All three movies rank among Paramount Pictures 10 highest grossing movies of all-time. But where do they rank and what other movies made the top 10?

10th Highest Grossing Movie from Paramount Pictures: Kung Fu Panda
Box Office Gross: $215 Million
Right off the bat we start with one of the movies from 2008. Kung Fu Panda has been the second highest grossing film to come from Dreamworks, even beating out of two of the Shrek movies. In 2008 Kung Fu Panda came very close to grossing the same money as Pixar's hit movie WALL-E.

9th Highest Grossing Movie from Paramount Pictures: Ghost
Box Office Gross: $217 Million
Back in 1990 Patrick Swayze was as big a star as there was. I was never a big fan because every scene with Whoopi Goldberg was horrible but a lot of other people paid to see this movie.

8th Highest Grossing Movie from Paramount Pictures: War of the Worlds
Box Office Gross: $234.2 Million
Even though I've never been a big Tom Cruise fan I saw War of the Worlds at the movie theater and contributed to its $234.2 million dollar box office. Man, am I a sucker.

7th Highest Grossing Movie from Paramount Pictures: Beverly Hills Cop
Box Office Gross: $234.7 Million
Beverly Hills Cop is easily the oldest movie to make this list. Beverly Hills Cop hit theaters in 1984 making it six years older than Ghost, the second oldest movie on the list.

6th Highest Grossing Movie from Paramount Pictures: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Box Office Gross: $317 Million
Indiana Jones and the Crusade to Rob Movie Goers of their Hard Earned Money was a huge success. I can't wait until Indiana Jones and Let's Throw Out Another Crappy Sequel because they'll Pay to See Anything with the Name Indiana Jones hits the theaters in a few summers.

5th Highest Grossing Movie from Paramount Pictures: Iron Man
Box Office Gross: $318 Million
Don't believe the hype behind the Spider-man and X-Men movies. Iron Man is a much better film and has single handedly restored my faith in Marvel Comics movies. Now if we can just get something good from DC other than Batman.

4th Highest Grossing Movie from Paramount Pictures: Transformers
Box Office Gross: $319 Million
What's the price for selling out my childhood? Apparently it is $319 million dollars! Plus whatever Transformers 2 makes...and GI Joe.

3rd Highest Grossing Movie from Paramount Pictures: Shrek the Third
Box Office Gross: $322 Million
The highest grossing film in Dreamworks history comes in at third overall among Paramount Pictures movies. I'm glad that Shrek only made the list once. Do you know how hard it was to write an article on the Top 10 Highest Grossing Warner Bros. Movies was when 5 out of 10 of the movies were Harry Potter?

2nd Highest Grossing Movie from Paramount Pictures: Forrest Gump
Box Office Gross: $329 Million
Forrest Gump remains the only Alabama football player I've ever liked. Forrest Gump is also my favorite ping pong ball player and my favorite shrimper.

Highest Grossing Movie from Paramount Pictures: Titanic
Box Office Gross: $600 Million
It still boggles my mind that Titanic made so much money. I get that it's popular and that it has Leonardo Dicaprio and all of that. But Titanic made twice as much as Forrest Gump? That's insane. I demand a recount. There had to be some kind of error in calculating the box office gross for that movie.
