Top 10 List of Awesome Christmas Party Songs

Rockin' around the Christmas tree? How about rockin' Santa's face off with "Hey Santa" by Carnie and Wendy Wilson? This song is so sweet, funny and just plain cute, it'll crack some people up, get some to sing along, and definitely start the eggnog flowing properly. Those Wilson sisters really know how to make a jolly, bearded, present-bearing guy feel loved. But then you should probably move onto something more upbeat. I'd recommend "Last Christmas" by Jimmy Eat World, since it rocks a bit more than the Wilson love fest, but still has that classic feel as the Wham! original, interpreted by a great band. After that one, play the girls-love-it favorite, "All I Want for Christmas Is You" by Mariah "imperfect angel" Carey. It's really good after a drink or two, guaranteed. It'll make everyone want to go sledding, so after you do that you can come back inside and listen to "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth" by the Chipmunks, because everyone loves that one. If they don't, why did you invite them?

I also suggest "The Christmas Song" by The Raveonettes as a mellow backdrop to some conversation. Then you can bust out the New Kids on the Block merry old-school jam "Funky, Funky Christmas" because they are totally back on the charts (I think?) and even if no one knows it, it's fun to dance silly to and make fun of. Then I hate to say it, but a Christmas party just ain't right without those darn Hanson brothers. "Merry Christmas Baby" as done by them is one you have to include, because this list says so. So, now onto the extra-fun part. The soundtrack to the film Fred Claus that was so very popular (that's a lie) has a perfect song on it. Really. It's called "Ludacrismas," and you need to get it heard at your party. That's all I'm going to say. Just kidding, I'm also going to say one of the best lines from that song is "if Santa doesn't show I want his cookies and his milk" and is best heard with you rapping along. The last two songs are the breathy favorite "Santa Baby" by Kylie Minogue and "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee. That last one is the grand finale, and when accompanied by the scene from Home Alone where Kevin fools the Wet and/or Sticky Bandits by pretending there's a party using sheer ingenuity, it's a great ending to a perfect Christmas celebration.
