1. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. This is another fantasy adventure film, based on the novel of J.K. Rowling, and the sixth film in the popular Harry Potter series. As Harry begins his sixth year at his school, he discovers an old, mysterious book, and begins to learn more about his nemesis' dark past. The expected release date of this film is July 2009.
2. X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Starring Hugh Jackman as the title character, this is an upcoming superhero film based on the fictional Marvel Comics character Wolverine, and is a prequel to the X-Men film trilogy. Origins is due for release on May 1, 2009.
3. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Due for release on June 26, 2009, the sequel to 2007's Transformers is a science fiction film that introduces many more robots this time around. The two races of robotic aliens-Autobots and Decepticons-continue their battle, with the fate of the universe at stake.
4. Public Enemies. This is a 2009 film adaptation of Bryan Burrough's book Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave. The crime drama is set during The Great Depression with the focus on the FBI agent Melvin Purvis' attempt to stop several criminals, including Pretty Boy Floyd. The expected release date of this film is July 1, 2009.
5. Angels & Demons. The newest adaptation of Dan Brown's bestselling mystery novel and starring Tom Hanks for the second time around, Angels and Demons revolves around the Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon as he works to solve a murder and prevent a terrorist act against the Vatican. The film is due for release on May 15, 2009.
6. Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian. Scheduled for release on May 22, 2009, Night at the Museum 2 is an American adventure comedy film starring Ben Stiller. The highlight of the film will be bringing to life the Smithsonian Institution, which houses the world's largest museum complex with more than 136 million items in its collections.
7. The Informant. This is an upcoming dark comedy thriller film based on the 2000 book, The Informant, by Kurt Eichenald. Starring Matt Damon, the movie centers around the U.S. Government and an agri-business giant, who is accused of price-fixing. This film is scheduled for release in September 2009.
8. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Scheduled for release in July 2009, this animated film is the third installment of the Ice Age series. This youthful adventure leads viewers to a mysterious world, with close encounters with dinosaurs, mammoths, and a weasel.
9. The Day the Earth Stood Still. This film is actually being released December 12, 2008, but its success will carry over well into 2009. Starring Keanu Reeves, this remake of the 1951 classic science-fiction film is about an alien visitor and his giant robot counterpart who visit Earth.
10. The Taking of Pelham 123. This thriller, based on the 1973 novel by John Godey, stars Denzel Washington and John Travolta. In this movie, armed men hijack a New York subway train in demand of a substantial ransom. The scheduled release date is July 31, 2009.
