After all the hype, it's pretty easy to see why 2006 was the year of the celebrity baby. We were all fascinated by the expensive nursery designs, overpriced clothes and watching our favorite stars gain that pregnancy weight.

Sure, 2005 had some good ones too. How could we forget little Apple? What about CoCo? It seemed that they started it all. Take a look at the most unusual baby names of 2006.

1. Geri Halliwell: The former Spice Girl delivered her first child, a daughter named Bluebell Madonna on May 14. The singer explained that her first name was chosen after her mother told her that a bluebell was a rare and precious flower. The baby's middle name was to honor Halliwell's heroines, the Virgin Madonna and Madonna, the singer.

2. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt: After great speculation about Jolie's pregnancy, the couple finally revealed that Angelina was indeed pregnant. The couple sought privacy in the African country of Namibia. Shiloh Nouvel was born on May 27 and is the couple's third child. The Jolie-Pitt clan also includes adopted children Maddox and Zahara. But where is Shiloh anyway? We keep seeing pictures of Maddox and Zahara but nothing of Shiloh since the big release.

3. Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli: This pair of actors kept the unusual names coming when they welcomed daughter Fiona Eve on September 30. Fiona has two big sisters, Luca Bella and Lola Ray.

4. Woody and Laura Harrelson: Woody has been know for being a bit unique in recent years and kept with this theme in naming his new daughter. Their third daughter, Makani Ravello, was born on June 3. Makani joins big sisters Deni Montana and Zoe Giordano. When announcing Makani's birth, the couplereferred to the three as their "goddess trilogy."

7. Brooke Shields and Chris Henchy: The couple celebrated the birth of their daughter, Grier Hammond, on April 18. Big sister Rowan Francis can teach Grier the ropes. Coincidentally, Shields' second child was born on the same day and in the same hospital as the first child of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise.

8. Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise: After months of speculation and media buzz, baby girl Suri came in to the world on April 18th. We all waited until October when Suri was presented in Vogue.

9. Melania and Donald Trump: Baby number five for the Donald but don't expect him to change diapers. His wife, Melania, gave birth to Barron William on March 20.

10. Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann: The Law & Order SVU actress and her actor husband welcomed a son, named August, on June 28. So if he had been born in August, would they have named him July instead?

These names are quite interesting. Not in a good way though. I think that traditional, down to earth names are the only names. I have 4 children named, Sarah, Anna, James, and Jopseph. Wonderful. START NAMIMG YOUR KIDS TRADITIONALLY!

Quite entertaining, though I feel bad for the kids. They may face years of teasing by their peers.

People do not think of the child when naming them anymore. Seems like they try to outdo others with their crazy names.Good article.
