Top 10 Must Have Tools for Around the House

Sammy Bones
If you live in a house, then you probably need these 10 tools for making your life easier. Nothing is more frustrating than having a problem that should be a simple fix, but you don't have the proper tool. A small tool investment can be worth a fortune when saving your valuable time. We all have busy lives between family and a career, so don't spend all of your time jammed up because you don't have these 10 tools.

1. A multi screwdriver is a must have tool that you can find at any local hardware store or Wal-Mart for about 5 bucks. These special screwdrivers are 6 tools in one. They have 2 reversible tips that have 2 slotted and 2 Phillips tips. The Phillips tips are the ones that look like and "x". When you remove the tips completely, there are 2 nut drivers for added convenience.

2. A pair of pliers will come in handy for many tasks around the house. I recommend a pair that has a rubber coating on the handles for comfort. You can find a cheap pair of pliers for between $4 and $8

3. A medium to small size hammer is a must have for doing things right. Forget using the heel of your good $80 shoes to pound in a nail to hang a photo. A small hammer is less than $10.

4. A snap off blade, disposable razor knife is what you will need for many crafts and jobs that a regular knife will not work for. These handy items are about $3 and you will never be without one again.

5. Testing power is scary for many people, but having a simple tool to check if you have power can eliminate the fear because you will be able to tell before you touch something that could shock you. You can get a simple tester for less than $5.00

6. An 8" crescent wrench or "C" wrench comes in handy for loose nuts or bolts.

7. One slightly more costly item, but a real must have is a small power drill with a set of drill bits. I recommend a small cordless drill made by Skill and you can get them for less than $50.00 at most hardware stores.

8. Measuring will be impossible without a measuring tape. Nothing fancy here, just a small 10-15 foot measuring tape will do. You can find these in many stores for less than $5 or $6

9. Wire-cutters are a less needed tool than others, but it adds a real convenience when snipping flowers or doing crafts.

10. A small hand saw to cut wood or tree limbs will also be used less but is still a must have tool. I recommend purchasing one that your hand is comfortable holding.
