Top 10 Nature Shows on National Geographic Channel

The Best Nature Shows on the National Geographic Channel!

Super Duper

The National Geographic Channel has many great programs, but when it comes down to it, viewers just want to watch good old Mother Nature in its purest form. That's the beauty of it - the National Geographic Channel does a better job of covering nature than any other channel! Whether you want to watch icky spiders, magnificent lions, or just about any other animal - the National Geographic Channel covers them! Here are 10 shows that do just that:

Wild

- This show is one of my favorite on the channel. You get to watch some amazing zoologists travel around the world and document all the wildest animals you can imagine.

- It doesn't stop there. Every episode takes you to different corners of the world.

- Not only do you get to see amazing animals in their most primitive form, but you also get to encounter some very majestic locations. You will come across everything from Black Bears in towering lush forests, to majestic lions in the African Savannahs. You will get to see every animal along with analysis by highly acclaimed zoologists and biologists.

- I recommend this show for anyone interested in wild animals in wilder locations!

Earth: The Biography

- I truly love this show since every episode seems like an entirely different series.

- One day, you will look at the amazing seas and the next day volcanoes.

- The analysis seems very in-depth but never overbearing.

- This show's premise is to give the viewer a better understanding of our great planet and what makes it so unique.

- They explore a different phenomenon every episode - like the importance of volcanoes - and explain the significance of the given subject.

- I recommend this show for anyone interested in the violent weather or for people who love to know random facts about our great planet.

Dog Whisperer

- I like dogs, but love this show. You don't need to be the biggest dog fans to appreciate this show.

- This show gives the viewer a better understanding of the intelligence of dogs. This show will give you a better appreciation for man's best friend.

- I broke down a lot of my misconceptions about violent dogs. Dogs do learn - young and old!

- I recommend this show for the dog lovers and non-lovers alike.

Africa Extreme

- This show takes the viewers beyond the typical African nature shows. You see animals on this show you never would have thought existed!

- They take the wild animals - and make them wilder! How so? Well have you ever seen a bird attack a lion? You will here. This show does a tremendous job of bringing a fresh new approach to the typical nature show.

- I think this show has a lot of potential since they've barely scratched the surface of what they can do.

I recommend this show for animal lovers. Not really your show if you're looking for eye candy, since the nature scenery will get redundant after a few episodes.

Underwater World

- This show mixes beautiful scenes with magnificent animals.

- The focus of this show is the underwater animals. This show is different from other nature shows since they focus on just the marine life, but they do so with a lot of technology.

- You'll be amazed by the sheer number and complexity of the marine life that exists in basically any body of water.

- Presents with stunning detail every animal that encompasses a given animal's food chain.

- I recommend this show for anyone interested in fishes and the deep, blue sea.

DogTown

- Unlike the Dog Whisperer, I would recommend this for strictly dog lovers.

- I like dogs, but this is meant for the dog loving community since it'll give you the life stories of a given set of dogs. I'm not saying that you need to love a dog to love this show, but believe me, it does help.

- With all that being said, I like the overall structure and premise of this show. It takes a different approach in comparison to other nature shows, and does so really well.

- I recommend this show for the National Geographic Channel's dog loving community!

Rhino Rescue

- The National Geographic Channel does this so well: focusing on one animal and taking it the distance.

- This show opened my eyes to the realities of an amazing animal - the Rhino!

- When I think of poachers, I automatically think ivory and elephants. I never think rhinos. Well watch this show and you will change your mind!

- It takes us through the lives of rhinos and man's attempt to kill and save this amazing animal.

- I truly recommend this show for anybody since it encompasses beautiful scenes with a very beautiful animal.

Haunt of the Hippo

- Let me ask you something: did you think this animal was fast? Well it is.

- This show throws so many facts about the Hippo at you, you'll feel like a Hippo expert!

- To tell you the truth, my only exposure to hippos up until I viewed this show was the game Hungry, Hungry Hippo. So when I saw this show, it really opened my eyes to this magnificent animal.

- Hippos can be cute and mean. This show exposes both sides to this Jekyll and Hyde animal!

- I recommend this show for animal lovers and non-lovers alike, you will definitely come out smarter!

National Geographic's Most Astonishing / Wildest Moments

- This show takes the best parts of each of the shows and meshes it into one snippet.

- I think this show does a really good job of bringing together the best scenes and removing the watered down portions that are inevitable within any show.

- This show doesn't just take things from previous episodes, but takes original material and incorporates it with their current material as well!

- I recommend this show for the casual viewers that don't have enough time to sit down and watch an entire episode dedicated to a given animal.

Cowboys of the Sea

- Ever wonder how fishermen lived? Ever wonder what kind of animals they catch? Well this show covers them all.

- This show encompasses two very important things - beautiful animals and beautiful scenes.

- The show demonstrates the risks of being a fisherman.

- I recommend this show for those who love the sea and the dangers that come along with living in and around it.

I hope this guide helps you choose between the great shows that the National Geographic channel offers!
