For baseball fans, players, and enthusiasts, the baseball season will soon be on its way. Here is the Fantasy Baseball Draft Guide 2009's Top 10 Position Battles for Shortstops. This is based off estimates of players' performance and also several other factors, which will be discussed within the guide.

#1 Overall Shortstops - Fantasy Baseball 2009: Jose Reyes, New York Mets

Jose Reyes. Playing for the New York Mets, Jose Reyes has a batting average of .297, 16 home runs, and 68 runs batted in. For 2009, he should reduce fielding errors. He could also hit a few more triples and homeruns.

#2 Overall Shortstops - Fantasy Baseball 2009: Hanley Ramirez, Florida Marlins

Hanley Ramirez. He plays for the Florida Marlins. Hanley Ramirez has a batting average of .301 for 2008, with 33 home runs and 67 runs batted in. With a few less errors while fielding, and a few more games started, his fielding percentage may improve.

#3 Overall Shortstops - Fantasy Baseball 2009: Jimmy Rollins, Philadelphia Phillies

Jimmy Rollins. He is shortstop for the Philadelphia Phillies. He has a batting average of .277, with 11 home runs and 59 runs batted in. He should improve his batting average and fielding percentage.

#4 Overall Shortstops - Fantasy Baseball 2009: Derek Jeter, New York Yankees

Derek Jeter. He plays for the New York Yankees. His batting average is .300, with 11 home runs and 69 runs batted in. With 13 years of experience, his gameplay is solid. A higher fielding percentage and on-base percentage would improve his ability.

Michael Young. He plays for the Texas Rangers. His batting average is .284, with 12 home runs, and 82 runs batted in. He has 8 years of experience, and he can hope to break a .990 fielding percentage this season as well as start the most games in his career.

#8 Overall Shortstops - Fantasy Baseball 2009: Stephen Drew, Arizona D-Backs

Stephen Drew. He plays for the Arizona D-Backs. His batting average is .291, with 21 home runs, and 67 runs batted in. With just two years experience, he can reduce errors and keep starting the number of games he is starting, improving his field percentage.

#9 Overall Shortstops - Fantasy Baseball 2009: Ryan Theriot, Chicago Cubs

Ryan Theriot. He plays for the Chicago Cubs. With a batting average of .307, 1 home run, and 38 runs batted in, he could stand to improve his on-base and slugging percentage. With 2 seasons at short stop, a few less errors and a few more games started will improve his overall gameplay.

Orlando Cabrera. He is short stop for the Chicago White Sox. He has a batting average of .281, 8 home runs, and 57 runs batted in. He has 7 seasons of experience approximately, at short stop, and just has to reduce errors to improve his overall game.
