Coming in at number 10 is "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga. This being a recently released song (2008) it is fresh in the minds of many, but somewhat forgotten about due to Lady Gaga's newer songs. When this came out in 2008 it was played on the radio non-stop for its new style of beat that Lady Gaga is known for. She uses different sounds that are uncommon, but produces a great dancing beat with them. The title of this song, as well as the phrase in the song, "just dance," is what everyone will be doing when they listen to this song.
Number 9 is the song "Get Low" by Lil Jon & the Eastside Boyz. Released in 2003 it was an instant hit all over the country. This song is all about dropping it low, and getting crazy with the dancing. This song has always been played at high school dance parties from the day it came out and is still popular today. Lil Jon's style in this song is a grunge hip-hop type of music, and promotes some provocative behavior on the dance floor. "To the window, to the wall" and "get low" are part of verses in this song really encouraging the audience to do some dirty dancing. This song is sure to bring a hot atmosphere to your next party.
Making number 8 on this list is "Hey-Ya" by Outkast. Originally released in late 2003 "Hey-Ya" is one of those songs that can really be danced to and get the crowd involved. Outkast has proved to be one of the best hip-hop groups to come out of the late 90's and 2000's releasing many hit songs, and popular beats that are unmistakable when heard. "Hey-Ya" is sure to liven up the room of any party and is a must for this year's New Year's bash.
The 7th song on this list is "Get the Party Started" by Pink. Pink is one of the artists forgotten about as the decade went along, which makes this song a throwback for many since it came out back in 2001. It was the first single that came out on her second album produced and was an international hit very soon after. Back when this song came out, it was always on MTV being played nonstop. The song has a very fast tempo to it making it perfect to get everyone dancing to. Many of the songs on this list are by male artists, and Pink gives the girls a chance to let loose to a female singer. So do your female party friends a favor and add this song to your party play list.
"Sexyback" by Justin Timberlake makes number 6. This song, which came out in 2006, was a complete change for Justin Timberlake and his old boy band ways. He decided to add a more rock style to his music and start producing solo albums after he left 'N sync. "Sexyback" was a national and international hit being a top song in both America and the UK. This song is very provocative as well and will probably steam up the dance floor for everyone.
Bringing in the top 5 is "Please Don't Stop the Music" by Rihanna. And who would want to stop the music at this end of the year party? This song came out in the late summer of 2007, and provided a great song to end the summer before everyone went back to school. This is a decently fast dance song throughout the entire piece
and encourages everyone to be out there having fun. Many of the lyrics in this song are strictly geared to dancing and having fun, like the following: "I'm making my way over to my favorite place, I gotta get my body moving shake the stress away." This song is about letting go of all your problems and just dancing until you feel better. What better way to end the year than to dance all of your problems away!
Number 4 is a new song called "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus. Released in 2009, "Party in the USA" is a song sang by the youngest artist on this list, being only 17 years old. It is a huge hit among teenage girls but also is enjoyed by partiers everywhere. The chorus lets you "put your hands up" and "move your hips" along with everyone else in the room and makes it a great group party song. Miley also references older singers including Jay-Z and Brittney Spears that produced great party songs. It's a song that will lift the spirits and be glad you are partying in the USA for the end of the decade.
Top 3 starts off with "Yeah" by Usher. Another older song, which was originally released in 2004, makes "Yeah" another throwback. This song starts off by being in the club, and what better party song is there then one that's taking place in a club. It's a fast tempo song that will keep you moving on the dance floor all night long. Similar to "Get Low" this was a song constantly played at dances since it came out, and is still popular today. It has received many high ratings and was near the tops of many charts when it came out. It's got one of those beats that gets inside your head and stays there for a long time. End the decade right by paying tribute to one of the best party songs that was produced this decade.
"I Love College" by Asher Roth is runner up this decade. Probably one of the most popular songs that came out in 2008 it was played nonstop among my own peers. This was the song that really put Roth's name out there as many had not heard of him before this song. Although this isn't a high intensity song, it's great to just chill with friends and enjoy the time together. The entire song is all about the college party experience that almost all college kids look forward to after high school. The song is all about dancing, being with your best friends, drinking, and girls. It is the epiphany of a party, and should definitely be on your play list this year.
The number 1 song of this decade is however, "Hot in Herre" by Nelly. "It's gettin hot in herre" is what everyone is saying as they dance along to this song. When the guys and girls are dancing at the party their at to this song, one thing is clear, it's getting hot. Nelly was one of the more popular artists at the beginning of the decade and when this song came out in 2002, there was no doubt this helped boost his popularity even higher. Although it was produced 7 years ago, ask almost anybody who likes to party and they'll know about this song. The atmosphere represented in this song is that of a great party with lots of dancing, and hopefully some clothes being removed as Nelly sings about. If you want your party this year to get a little wild play this favorite and watch the dance floor get wild.
There are many other great party songs that could have made this list, but I can't have you reading forever when there are parties to be had! This list is a great reminder of some of the party songs that may have been forgotten about that will liven up your party and also some new ones maybe you haven't heard of. So, whatever you decide to play this year, hopefully this recap will provide you with some good beats that will be sure to make a hit at your party.
