Check any magazine and they'll give you five basic places to spot a celeb. Something along the lines of Kitson, Fred Segal, The Ivy, Les Deux, and Area. And sure, occasionally you will spot a star or two wandering in. To be honest, though, most celebrities dash in to pose for a paparazzi picture and hightail it right back out. It's all probably to get a promotional "candid" shot for their upcoming film and then they're off to the places on this list... Where the real fun is!

1. Champaigne Bar at the Hotel Bel Air - Let's start off big! Sometimes also referred to as the Piano Bar, the room is cozy and the pianist, Antonio, is fantastic. Great for a night of simplicity and elegance - definitely romantic if you're with a significant other. When I last stopped by for drinks I found myself seated between Lisa Marie Presley and Jim Carrey with Jenny McCarthy. That's nothing, though. Mere days before I was there both Billy Joel and Paul McCartney stopped in. Other notable guests include Tom Cruise, Al Pacino, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and Michael Jackson before his death.

2. La Conversation - If you're looking for a more relaxed setting this French bakery (with amazing breakfast food) is a great place to find yourself eating mere inches away from a movie star. More than once I've been seated next to Adam Sandler and Nicole Richie is also a frequenter. Others stopping in for a bite include John Krasinski, Robert Pattison, Whitney Port and Jessica Biel.

3. Arclight Hollywood - Movie stars see movies too! This theater has amazing screens, the most comfortable seats, and an awesome restaurant and gift shop inside. I have yet to see a movie here without seeing someone and premieres occur all the time at the Cinerama Dome next door. Most recently, I've seen Sienna Miller, Mindy Kaling, Samantha Ronson, Demi Moore, Keanu Reeves, and Mena Suvari.

4. Malibu Country Mart - This outdoor shopping plaza in Malibu has some of my favorite stores including Ron Herman, Vince, Madison and Juicy Couture. I can't even count the number of celebs I've seen and heard of in here. I was personally most excited to find myself shopping alongside stylist Rachel Zoe one day. Other stars known to shop here include Pierce Brosnan, Denise Richards, Avril Lavigne, Tori Spelling, Jesse Metcalfe, Leann Rimes, Helena Bonham Carter, Kate Beckinsale, and Halle Berry.

5. Bardot or Guys and Dolls - When it comes to clubbing in LA, names and locations are constantly changing. The two hotspots of the moment are Bardot and Guys and Dolls. While weeknights are generally better for celebrity spotting almost any night guarantees someone. In fact, my first night at Bardot I literally ran into Mischa Barton as she left the restroom. And don't forget, this is also where Joe Francis and Brody Jenner's girlfriend allegedly got in that big brawl. People you may find yourself dancing with: Audrina Patridge, Shane West, Brittany Snow, Paris and Nicky Hilton, Annalynne McCord, Lindsay Lohan, and Adam Lambert.

6. Beverly Hot Springs - Looking for a relaxing day at the spa? Beverly Hot Springs has just what you need with soothing massages, facials, and the only natural hot springs in Los Angeles. Expect to find yourself reaching serenity next to the likes of Madonna, Liv Tyler, Kim Basinger or Brooke Shields. What could be better?

7. The Green Door - Known for being super picky on who makes the list and who gets inside, this place is just oozing with celebrities. It's labeled as "an extreme escape from modern Hollywood," and definitely takes you back to the 16th century or so. On any given night you're likely to catch Prince, Pink, Melanie Griffith, Ryan Gosling, Elisha Cuthbert, Will Smith, Eva Longoria, Quentin Tarantino, or Britney Spears.

8. Sports Club/LA (in Beverly Hills) - You're probably using celebrities as "thinspiration" anyway. What could be better than jogging right next to them on the treadmill? Those who have recently toweled off on one of SCLA's hundreds of machines or taken a dip in their Junior Olympic size swimming pool include Tiger Woods, Heidi Klum, Leonardo DiCaprio, Victoria and David Beckham, Jamie Foxx and Jay-Z. If you're willing to splurge for a bicoastal membership you may also run into Fergie, Taye Diggs, or Justin Timberlake in NYC.

9. Beso - It seems like everyone is headed to Beso lately! Owned by Eva Longoria this place boasts amazing steak and seafood with a Latin twist. The cocktails aren't bad either. Many star-filled events are held here and still on a regular night you are likely to find VIPs like Kim Kardashian, Benicio del Toro, Jessica Simpson, Sophie Monk, Jennifer Lopez, or Hayden Panettiere.

10. The Roger Room - Don't expect to read about this place in magazines but it is definitely the hottest place to be right now. Located on La Cienega without so much as a sign outside, this place is always filled to the brim with Angeleno's and flooded with celebs. On a slow night you'll still see a few. And they make the best drinks ever! Spotted recently: Kevin Connolly, Adrian Grenier, Samantha Ronson, Katy Perry, John Mayer, and Jeremy Piven.
