Come enjoy our top 10 mistakes made by politicians!
1. If you're going to talk about an issue, make sure you know what you're talking about. There is nothing worse than a politician making mistakes about a subject he is supposed to know about. We know they are constantly talking, but if it's a big election issue, do your research.
2. Talk in plain English. There is nothing worse than a politician talking and the viewers having no clue what he just said. Reminds me of an old history professor: He knew his stuff, but no one ever understood a word he said.
3. Say what you mean and mean what you say. How many times do we hear politicians tell us one thing then do another AFTER they're elected. For peat's sake, tell the truth. If we teach our children to speak the truth, you'd think our politicians could do the same.
4. Don't go political in every conversation. Don't you love it when a politician is asked a simple question and they go political? One minute he is talking about his favorite baseball team, the next he is talking politics. Politicians have a way of weaving subjects together to best suit them. Yeah, American voters hate that. Just talk to us like you would your family.
5. Breaking Rules is a Big No-No! You gotta love when a politician gets in trouble and she says, "I now know rules are for everyone." Seriously, politicians? Is that the best you got? Don't break the rules because the American voters are tired of seeing this from both parties. Laws are meant for everyone to follow. If you break them, you pay for it!
6. Affairs will always be found out! Didn't you know that the media watch you with hawk-eyes? If you aren't faithful to your loving spouse, someone will always find out. John Edwards knows a thing or two about this subject. He not only fathered a child he said he didn't father, he also had an affair he said he didn't have. Of course, as politicians do, they eventually come back with half the truth: "Yes, to everything."
7. Stop thinking America is stupid! For some reason, politicians don't think American voters can add or keep a budget. I guess because Washington has done such a bad job of budgeting Americans' money, they think everyday Americans are just as bad. They could take a lesson from any middle-class American family.
8. Track Effective Campaigns! If there is one thing we know to be true, the politicians who reach out to the people have higher chances than those who neglect to go from state to state. American voters want to see you in their city. If you come, you might get their votes in the November elections!
9. Name calling is for toddlers! Of course, we probably should remind our President of this little fact, as he's been name calling a lot of people lately. Some say the President has that right; others say that is beneath the President. I guess we now know why there is name calling: It comes straight from their leader. Of course, this doesn't just go to the Democratic Party; over the years we've seen both parties stoop lower and lower. Can't politicians be nice to each other?
10. Spend less money! If Americans are on a budget, why isn't Washington? Why are we spending more money than ever before if we are deeper in debt? I know, President Obama says our debt is because of Bush, but shouldn't President Obama make a stand and actually fix the budget? It doesn't matter which party you are associated with; we all know that the way to get out of debt is less spending. Of course, that applies to the average American. Maybe that doesn't apply to politicians.
