Top 10 Pop Christmas Songs

This is My Personal Opinion

Kris Ruddy
I'm reaching back into the cobwebs of my memory and trying to come up with what I feel are the best 10 songs ever recorded about Christmas. My cobwebs aren't clearing very well, so I asked my favorite expert on such matters....my oldest daughter. She has tunes constantly running through her head and if they aren't running through her head, they are being downloaded as ringtones on her cell phone. I knew she would know what to write and I wasn't disappointed. So, I will give you her list and then I'll try to remember some of the songs that I also like, because she doesn't necessarily want them in her list.

1. So This is Christmas - John Lennon

2. Do They Know it's Christmas Time At All - Band Aid

3. Oh Come All Ye Faithful - Twisted Sister (although not really "pop" awesome all the same)

4. Christmas Vacation - Mavis Staples

5. Feliz Navidad - Jose Feliciano

6. The Chanuka Song - Adam Sandler

7. Mele Kalikmaka - Bing Crosby

8. Santa Clause is Coming in the Boogie Woogie Choo Choo Train - The Tractors (Not pop, but one that's worth listening to!)

9. Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley

10. Santa Baby - Pussycat Dolls

Being that Christmas Vacation is our favorite movie, have to list the songs from that one!

Yes, I love the song by John Lennon, but Paul McCartney also put out a Christmas song called "Wonderful Christmastime". We can never leave out Lennon or McCartney.

The Carpenters sang a song called "Merry Christmas Darling."
"Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee
"The Chipmunk Song/Christmas Don't Be Late" by Alvin and the Chipmunks
"Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" by Bruce Springsteen

The other Christmas songs I love are "The Little Drummer Boy"; "O Holy Night"; "Silent Night"; and other Christmas classics. I wish I could find my favorite Christmas cd and start listening to them now.

Happy Holidays!
