Top 10 QB's With Most Passing Yards in NFL History

These ten pro football quarterbacks have the most passing yards all time while playing in the NFL. Combined these great NFL quarterbacks only have a 8-9 won-lost record as starting QB's in the Super Bowl.

1) Brett Favre - 69,329 yards

Brett Favre is the all time leader in passing yards with 69,329 yards. Favre accumulated his passing yards playing for the Green Bay Packers (1992-2007), New York Jets (2008) and Minnesota Vikings (2009). Favre is technically still active but announced he was retiring due to ankle problems. Favre won his only Super Bowl in 1996 over the New England Patriots.

2) Dan Marino - 61,361 yards

Dan Marino played his entire career for the Miami Dolphins from 1983-1999 and threw for 61,361 yards while only making one Super Bowl in 1984 which he lost.

3) John Elway - 51,475 yards

Super John Elway threw for 51,475 yards in his NFL career playing the entire time for the Denver Broncos from 1993-1998. Elway made the Super Bowl five times in his career and won two of them back to back in 1997-1998.

4) Peyton Manning - 50,128 yards

Peyton Manning has so far thrown for 50,128 yards in his NFL career playing for the Indianapolis Colts since 1998. The Colts are giving Peyton Manning a new contract and he will surpass John Elway in 2010 barring an injury. Manning won the Super Bowl in 2006 over the Chicago Bears and lost the Super Bowl in 2009 to the New Orleans Saints.

5) Warren Moon - 49,325 yards

Warren Moon threw for 49,325 yards in his NFL career playing for the Houston Oilers (1984-1993), Minnesota Vikings (1994-1996), Seattle Seahawks (1997-1998) and Kansas City Chiefs (1999-2000) while never making a Super Bowl.

6) Fran Tarkenton - 47,003 yards

Fran Tarkenton threw for 47,003 yards in his long NFL career while playing for the Minnesota Vikings from 1961-1966 and 1972-1978 and the New York Giants from 1967-1971. Tarkenton lost 3 Super Bowls as a starting QB with the Vikings.

7) Vinny Testaverde - 46,233 yards

Vinny Testaverde threw for 46,233 yards in his NFL career playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1987-1992), Cleveland Browns (1993-1995), Baltimore Ravens (1996-1997), New York Jets (1998-2003, 2005), Dallas Cowboys (2004), New England Patriots (2006) and Carolina Panthers (2007). Testaverde never made it to the Super Bowl.

8) Drew Bledsoe - 44,611 yards

Drew Bledsoe threw for 44,611 yards in his NFL career while playing for the New England Patriots (1993-2001), Buffalo Bills (2002-2004) and Dallas Cowboys (2005-2006). Bledsoe made one Super Bowl in 1996 which he lost to Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers.

9) Dan Fouts - 43,040 yards

Dan Fouts threw for 43,004 yards in his NFL career all playing for the San Diego Chargers from 1973-1987 while primarily running head coach Don Coryell's Air Coryell offense which was one of the most entertaining offenses the NFL has ever seen. Fouts never made it to the Super Bowl in his career.

10) Joe Montana - 40,551 yards

Joe Montana threw for 40,551 yards in his NFL pro football career while playing for the San Francisco Giants (1979-1992) and Kansas City Chiefs from 1993-1994 while winning 4 Super Bowls.
