Top 10 Reasons to Root Against the New York Jets

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan has often been accused of sticking his foot in his mouth. Now, with Deadspin's expose of what may or may not be Ryan's wife, Michelle Ryan's foot fetish video on youtube, Rex Ryan and the New York Jets are involved in yet another controversy.

After flipping the bird to MMA fans earlier in the year, the flap over his excessive use of profanity on HBO's Hard Knocks, the Inez Sainz sexual harassment allegations, Braylon Edwards' DUI's and now this, Rex Ryan has made himself a huge target for hecklers in NFL stadiums, acting like a heel in the process.

An even bigger target than his ginormous gut, which is only slightly smaller after he had lapband surgery or whatever it was. Stop shooting yourself in the foot!

Here are my top 10 reasons to root against the New York Jets:

Braylon Edwards Is Out Of Step
10. Braylon Edwards' beard. That shiite-out-of-control-pubic hair-looking beard would be embarrassing to a Taliban intern. Besides, if the Taliban knew Edwards was hanging out with a known foot-fetishist, both would likely have body parts chopped off. Edwards needs to get in step!

Sanchez Is Still Wet Behind What?
9. Constant comparisons of Mark Sanchez to Joe Namath. Let's see Sanchez stand on his own two feet and increase his touchdown passes to a number greater than his interceptions before we start comparing the guy to an icon. Sanchez is still getting his feet wet.

8. Rex Ryan's preseason bluster, acting as if it was the Jets' birthrite to win the Super Bowl in February just because they went toe-to-toe with the AFC's best teams before losing in the AFC championship last season.

Back in the late 70s Houston Oiler coach Bum Phillips made a reference to his team "kicking in the door" of the Pittsburgh Steelers. It never happened. The Jets may have their foot in the door, but prove it on the field with more than one good season before you start acting as if the rest of the NFL should bow down and kiss your feet.

7. That annoying J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets cheer. So Jets' fans can spell a one syllable word, big whoop! Put your best foot forward Jets fans and come up with something fresh!

6. Rex Ryan's crying. The guy is seemingly crying about something most of the time. "That mean ol' Belichick wan up the score!" I guess Jets fans hate Bill Belichick because he took the Jets' job a few years back before getting "cold feet." "Sexy Rexy", it's your job to keep the opponents score down, especially if you're the defensive guru you've been made out to be for years. Get back on your feet!

5. Fickle Jets fans. It seems to me out here in "flyover country" that Giants fans are pretty loyal to their team even when things aren't going well. Jets fans? I'll give you an example. In just his first season, former coach Eric Mangini was dubbed "Man-genius" as he swept Jets fans off their feet. In just a couple of years, the guy was run out of town with fans saying he couldn't think on his feet.

4. Thomas Jones ran for over 1,400 yards last season. Jones was subsequently run out of New York for being "too old." Then the Jets signed LaDainian Tomlinson...Thomas Jones may not have had breakaway speed, but never tiptoed around in the hole. You'd think the Jets were operating on a shoestring budget or something.

3. The New York Jets' owner is "standing by his man" for now. The Jets' owner is named, get this: Woody Johnson. No, that's not a porn name. Woody may be defending Rex Ryan now, but too many more controversies and more losses like the 45-3 thrashing at the hands of the Patriots and ol' Sexy Rexy could get the boot.

2. Rex Ryan says this foot fetish video is a "personal matter." Rex, if you want to keep things private, you might want to keep your perv videos off of youtube. Big Brother, the NFL does not drag their feet on matters such as these any more.

1. Michelle Ryan, Rex Ryan's wife has the temerity to dub herself "ihaveprettyfeet." They look pretty average to me. Feet, barring corns, bunions or fungus look pretty much the same far as I'm concerned. If you've seen two, you've seen them all, to paraphrase Archie Bunker.

Feet are utilitarian, the hardest working body part, I suppose. Unless you're Tiger Woods or Ben Roethlisberger anyway. I just don't get aroused by feet, but's that just me. If, in the unlikely even that the shoe is on the other foot, Rex Ryan may feel footloose and fancy free to criticize all he wants...

There are more than ten reasons to root against the Jets, actually. This didn't even touch on the Inez Sainz allegations of sexual harassment or the recent Sal Alosi tripping incident. The New York Jets are clearly out of step...
