Top 10 Road Trip Songs Regardless of Where You're Going

Eric Jackson
Every time I take a trip I make a new road trip play list. They tent to vary because of the nature of the trip, but some I just keep on every list. Here are the ten that make it on the most lists

1. Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen on "A Night at the Opera." If you've ever seen the movie Wayne's World then you'll remember head banging to this classic. It's officially a road trip when this song comes on. Nothing says Epic like Queen.

2. The Passenger by Iggy Pop released on "Lust for Life." Here is a song you can punish the driver with reminding them that you're enjoying sign seeing while they battle traffic.

3. Don't Stop Believing by Journey on "Escape." Journey is white people's Kryptonite.

4. Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf on the "Soundtrack to Easy Rider." If you need pictures of you and yours mean muggin' for the camera look no further for motivation.

5. Movin' Right Along by The Muppets from "The Muppet Movie Soundtrack." This sends the car into waves of foolish laughter. People will try to do the voices if given enough encouragement.

6. Love Shack by The B-52s from the 1989 classic "Cosmic Thing." I often like to pretend this is the place we are actually going to.

7. Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones featured on "Hot Rocks 1964-1971." Your trip will feel like the start of a movie.

8. Summertime by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince on their 1991 album "Homebase." Great for summer trips it reminds you of all the best moments you've had in summer. This song feels like home even when you're far away.

9. The Humpty Dance by Digital Underground on their 1990 album "Sex Packets." This song just feels like a party and everyone wants to sing along even if they don't know the words.

10. What I Got by Sublime on their 1996 album "Sublime." No matter what you forgot to pack or whatever problems you're having during the trip this song makes you feel like it doesn't matter and it will all work out.

The music sets the mood for your trip so remember to think of everyone, but note that you can't please everyone. If the trip is really long you should each make your own mix and take turns. Play lists are to make the trip seem shorter so anything that is difficult will make the trip seem longer.
