Top 10 Rock Artists of the Decade

Heidi Stephens
10: 30 Seconds To Mars: Screamo in a nice, light manner. "The Kill" is an amazing song.

9: Metallica: Welcome back, St. Anger! They blessed us with this headbanging melodic masterpiece. Also, with a three hour long documentary. Any band that has a song that begins with "Welcome to San Quentin" belongs on this list.

8: Slipknot: Holy Hell! Yep, it's Slipknot! I'm partial to Vermillion Pt. II, a slower, softer, and perhaps the most disturbing track her made by these guys, but it's oddly beautiful.

7: Muse: Weird. They are on the same weird level as Jethro Tull to me. Except, that I really like Muse. Stockholm Syndrome is a must hear for those who haven't heard it.

6: Disturbed: Loud, but not too vulgar. Child friendly metal, really. If I had kids, they would listen to Disturbed.

5: Shinedown: Extremely talented group of guys, who can pull off anything from "I Dare You" to ":Sound of Madness".

4: Nickelback: I'm in the minority with my friends, but I love Nickelback. I love Rockstar. I love Photograph. I love them. I love good classic sounding rock. And these guys do it.

3: Death Cab For Cutie: I'm not a big time slow-rock, or cutesy rock kinda girl. But, somehow Death Cab For Cutie works for me. Maybe because their lyrics have meanings, or maybe Grey's Anatomy has brainwashed me into liking it. Anyway, it's good, and will hopefully stand the test of time.

2: Green Day: American Idiot. 'Nuff said, right? Well, except for that it was a HUGE, enormous comeback for these guys. It made them seem grown up, but not stuffy. And we like that.

1: Nine Inch Nails: I grew up listening to "Hurt" and "Head Like A Hole". I almost had a pulmonary when I read that Johnny Cash had redone "Hurt". But since "The Fragile", which I like by the way, Trent Reznor has produced some, if not, the best albums of the decade. It's a shame that this was the end...
