Honorable mentions go to AC/DC for "Mistress for Christmas", Twisted Sister for "Silver Bells", Joe Satriani for "Silent Night" and Green Day for "Christmas Day". I did give some weight to the amount of air time and popularity that each song enjoyed.
10. Chuck Berry - "Run Rudolph Run"
I love this song's fun spirit and upbeat 50's rhythm. Chuck Berry is considered to be one of rock-n-roll's founding fathers. Berry Released "Run Rudolph Run" in 1958, the song made it to number 69 on the Billboard Hot 100.
9. Bob Seger - "Little Drummer Boy"
This gritty and soulful rock song is perfect for your holiday play list. Released as a holiday song in 1963, the "Little Drummer Boy" had been re-arranged a few times before it became known as it is today. Bob Seger upped the hip factor of the song by turning it into a rock song in 1987.
8. Bruce Springsteen - "Merry Christmas Baby"
This captures the essence of Bruce Springsteen at his rock best.
7. Joey Ramone of the Ramones - "Merry Christmas (I don't wanna fight tonight)"
This song has rock-n-roll all over it. It's tempo is upbeat and the song is simple to learn. Perfect for Christmas karaoke.
6. Bobby Helms - "Jingle Bell Rock"
This is a very peppy classic Christmas standard. Perfect office party tune.
5. Elvis - "Blue Christmas"
There isn't much to add about the rock icon Elvis Presley. This bluesy rock tune is a holiday play list must-have.
4, The Pretenders - "2000 miles"
This is a rock classic and many love it any time of year.
3. Kinks - "Father Christmas"
This rock song is fun to dance to. It's got a punk edge and pop sentimentality.
2. John Lennon - "Merry Xmas (War is Over)
Christmas is about love and John Lennon's song of love and peace is perfect for any holiday party or play list.
1. Band Aid - "Do they know it's Christmas time?"
The ultimate benefit song for the hungry in Ethiopia. This tune is part of "The Very Special Christmas" album. The album debut put it in the number one spot in Great Britain and the United States.

Post a CommentAre you sure Green Day sang a song called "Christmas Day"? Mxpx did (and it's a great song), but when I search around for "Green Day Christmas Day" all I can find is the Mxpx song mislabeled as being Green Day.
Nice choices!
