10. The Lions and the Cucumber (The Vampire Sound Incorporation): I came across this song from the Quentin Tarantino film, "Jackie Brown". It is a psychedelic instrumental piece with creepy shrieks sprinkled throughout. It is a song that has a very uneasy feel to that makes a perfect addition to any Halloween party.
9. Brain Damage(Pink Floyd): "The lunatic is on the grass". That is the opening line of this song that, much like the previous song, creates a feeling of unease and dread within. The creepiness is cranked up when the laughing comes in.
8. Fire On High(Electric Light Orchestra): This instrumental's intro is one of the most unnerving and creepy recordings I've ever heard. It's an amalgamation of noises, sounds, musical pieces, and backwards talking.
7. Frankenstein (Edgar Winter Group): Again, another instrumental. This song, with its driving beat, is perfectly reminiscent of a certain sewn-together monster.
6. Werewolves of London (Warren Zevon): This one's a no-brainer. This is definitely more fun than spooky.
5. (Tie) Godzilla/Don't Fear the Reaper (Blue Oyster Cult): Because these two songs are by BOC, I've decided to combine them into one ranking. They both have a distinct Halloween feel to them. One is a little more silly (Godzilla) and one could use more cowbell.
4. Highway to Hell (AC/DC): Halloween is the one holiday in which it's okay to pay tribute to things that are evil. Some people would say that will lead you straight to Hell. To quote another AC/DC song, "Hell ain't a bad place to be".
3. Runnin' With the Devil (Van Halen): Much like "Highway to Hell", this song has a negative message that coincides in perfect harmony with Halloween.
2. Sweet Transvestite(Rocky Horror Picture Show): Sung by Dr. Frank-N-Furter, this song is what Halloween is all about: being something you've always wanted to be on a special night.
1. This Is Halloween (Marilyn Manson): Marilyn Manson gave this song from the film, "A Nightmare Before Christmas", a brand new facelift with his dark, gritty, eerie take. It is one of the best Halloween songs you could add to your party.
