Science is awesome. This is because it has produced many essential and life changing discoveries throughout the centuries. In fact, there have been so many wonderful scientific discoveries that it is difficult to select the best ones. However, it is possible; therefore, here are the top 10 scientific discoveries that we love.

1. Anesthesia: This scientic discovery is wonderful. I can't imagine being awake for surgery. In fact, I wouldn't have surgery without this medical miracle. Did you know that poppy seeds were used as a type of anesthesia back in pre-historic times.

2. DNA: This scientific discovery is also known as mapping of the human gene. I find it fascinating that by learning more about how genes are put together, doctors are developing medications to treat any number of diseases and ailments, including diabetes. In addition, DNA has helped solve many criminal case in the justice system.

3. Electricity: Electricity was discovered because of Ben Franklin and his love of kites. I think it is safe to say that electricity is an essential scientific discovery. We would be in the dark without it.

4. Fingerprints: The discovery that fingerprints are unique to every person and that they are left on objects that we touch is nothing short of great. In addition, fingerprints can be lifted off those items. This scientific miracle changed the way that law enforcement conducted investigations.

5. Computer: Who invented the computer? This question can't be answered easily. One thing is certain, computers will continue to get smaller and improve in the number of functions it can perform.

6. Invisibility Cloak: This scientific discovery has nothing to do with Harry Potter. Invisibility cloaks are a new scientific discovery that is poised to begin happening soon. The applications of this technology can help the military, cell phones, and other wireless devices.

7. Universal Gravitation: Isaac Newton is responsible for this scientific discovery. He came to the conclusion that all objects in the universe, from apples to planets, exert gravitational attraction on each other.

8. Blood Groups: This scientific discovery is credited to Karl Landsteiner. He discovered that there were four blood groups and developed a classification system. This knowledge is essential to performing safe blood transfusions.

9. The Law of Falling Bodies: Galileo Galilei overturns about 2,000 years of Aristotelian belief that heavier bodies fall faster than lighter ones. He proved that all bodies fall at the same rate.

10. Germ Theory: In the 1800s, Louis Pasteur found that certain microbes are disease-causing agents. He formulates a germ theory that claims that most diseases, such as rabies and anthrax are caused by bacteria. Pasteur is called the "father of bacteriology" because his work lead to a new branch of scientific study.

I love science. It is great because there have been many scientific discoveries through the centuries. In fact, it is hard to pick the ten best ones. However, I have picked the ten best scientific discoveries that people will love. source: www.science.discovery.com, www.lovetoknow.com/top10scientific-discoveries.html
