Top 10 Songs by AC/DC, Quite Possibly the Best Rock Band Ever

Ainsley Patterson
I grew up in a rock 'n roll household where my dad plays bass, my brother plays guitar, and both my sister and uncle can really get down on the drums. Bands like Kiss, Led Zepplin, and and AC/DC, my favorite band, were common names in my house. I remember my mother talking about going to an AC/DC concert and seeing metal beams shaking because of how hard rocking the music was, so it was only natural that I would grow an appreciation for this kind of music, and that AC/DC would hold a special place in my heart. So, what are my top 10 songs by AC/DC you ask? (And even if you aren't asking, I'm still going to tell you!)

"Thunderstruck"- I remember the first time I heard this song on the radio, I literally got goosebumps. That opening guitar sequence blew my mind, and I just had to go home and talk about it with my brother. Next thing I knew, my brother was teaching himself that guitar sequence, and he was always playing for me. "Thunderstruck" is definitely worthy of a place on any list of top 10 songs by AC/DC.

"Back in Black"- This was my mother's favorite AC/DC song, so every time I listen to it I am reminded of what a cool and hip mother I was blessed with. If there were any song in the whole world that I could dedicate to my mother, this would be the one.

"For Those About to Rock"- This song just about sums up my family's feelings toward those hard rockers, its title is also my brother's screen name on Myspace, so of course it is only fitting that I put it in my list of top 10 songs by AC/DC.

"Highway to Hell"- No list of top 10 songs by AC/DC is complete without "Highway to Hell" as far as I am concerned. The piece just seems to speak to the rock 'n roll lifestyle perfectly, well at least the perceived lifestyle.

"Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap"- Okay, I know that the lyrics may be a bit risky, and my siblings and I probably shouldn't have been exposed to these kind of songs as kids, but I am glad I was. I love the opening guitar, I love the drums, and I love that raspy voice. This song is another perfect 10 from AC/DC.

"TNT"- "Oi, oi, oi, oi..." it just sucks you right in, and from there is only gets better. I obviously can't get enough AC/DC, my admiration runs so deep for this group, and this song is an AC/DC classic. If you are only going to listen to one AC/DC song, listen to this one!

"You Shook Me All Night Long"- I can't help but sing along with this song, and I have a hard time getting it out of my head after listening to it just once. I also have to admit, that I kind of like the fact that this song talks about the sexual power of the woman, rather than just being another rock song about how sexually powerful a man is.

"Let There Be Rock"- My feelings exactly! I love how this song sounds almost punk, while still sounding like AC/DC in the beginning. The amazing guitar and the infectious drums was all that I needed to put this song on my list of top 10 songs by AC/DC.

"Hells Bells"- The chiming of the bell, the slow guitar, and then the introduction of the cymbals, it's just delicious. "You're only young, but you're gonna die." I love it all, the lyrics and the instrumentals. I also love the fact that this song is slightly darker than other AC/DC songs.

"Whole Lotta Rosie"- Another song that I love because of my family. This is one of the songs that my family band always plays at family functions, and one that my mother was always requesting with her rock hands thrown into the air. My dad would always replace "Rosie" with "Amy" and my mother was always thrilled like it was the first time he had ever done this.

So, there they are in all their rock 'n roll glory, my top 10 songs by AC/DC. I hope you enjoyed the ride, and I hope even more that if you haven't heard these songs before, that you will take the time to listen to them.

What about Rock n Roll Ain't Noise Pollution? It's a favorite of my son, and I think it says it all!

All their songs are great, but personally I think "Ride On" is probably one of their best songs. Especially one of the best from the Bon Scott era. It's so different from all their others.

Other songs that would be on my list would be Money Talks, Gone Shootin', Let me put my love into you, and Shoot to Thrill.

Yep. All good, but the stations that play them here really tend to over play some of them.
