1.) "Baby, One More Time" produced by Max Martin
Britney Spears first hit was released in the end of 1998. It was the lead single off of her first album, 1999's "Baby, One More Time". It was a song written by Max Martin and Rami. It was originally written for TLC but they had already finished their album "Fan Mail, 1999." The song shows Britney singing about a boy that she had broken up with but regretted it, wanting him back. The track has the perfect pop chords with a steady beat to dance to. Its accompanying video was also a big hit. It was our first taste of the innocent girl from the South.
2.) "Gimme More" produced by Nate Hills
The lead single of Britney Spears' last album, 2007's "Blackout," was a surprise hit. In the midst of all the controversy, she recorded an up-tempo, danceable track that has a lot of sexual energy. Mr. Hills kept the beat simple and the writers keep the lyrics short and sweet. The track did fair well in the market, charting as high as number 2 on the Billboard Pop Charts. Even though her 2007 MTV Award show opening set was horrible, it was still a great track.
3.) "I'm a Slave 4 U" produced by The Neptunes
This song was one of the first to showcase Ms. Spears doing something other than straight pop. The song was written by The Neptunes. It was originally written for Janet Jackson but she declined it because she believed the track didn't fit her. It placed moderately high on the Billboard Hot 100 (#27). The video was controversial, showing Britney sweating it up in a futuristic, exotic town. This song also brought in a lot of African Americans to her fan base, blending her pop with a little Hip Hop. It was released on the "Britney" album (2001).
4.) "Me Against the Music" feat. Madonna produced Chris Stewart & Penelope Magnet
This song was the first single off of the "In the Zone" album (2005). When the first version of the song was presented to Britney, she didn't like it. This caused Penelope Magnet to write a new song on the piano. Once the track was redone, it met with Britney's approval. During the 2003 VMA rehearsals, Britney allowed Madonna to hear the track. Madonna then added her vocals and sent it back. Britney pushed up to be the first single. It charted at #35 on the Billboard Hot 100. It has a great beat and the Madonna duet is always a classic. It is a very danceable track.
5.) "Oops! I Did It Again" produced by Max Martin and Rami
This song was the first single off of Britney's second album of the same name. Released in 2000, it was a big hit for the princess of pop. It was a Billboard Top Ten Hit, charting at #9. The video was also an MTV favorite, actually being retired on TRL for being on their popular list for so long. The beat is very danceable and it is truly pop at its best.
6.) "You Drive Me Crazy" produced by Max Martin and Rami
This song was the third single from Britney's second album, 2000's "Oops! I Did It Again". The song peaked at #10 on Billboard's Top Ten List. This song is collaboration with long time producers Max Martin and Rami. The song is totally pop. It has a hard, danceable beat with a heavy piano, house-music sound. The video was also a big hit on MTV, showing Britney as a waitress letting loose at the job.
7.) "Toxic" produced by Bloodshy and Avant
This song was the second single of Britney's 2003 album, "In the Zone". It talks about Britney being in an affair with a married man and it being toxic to their relationship. Its accompanying video was also a big hit on MTV, showing Britney playing various vixens. The song won a Grammy in 2005 for Best Dance Recording. It was released in 2004 and it reached #9 on the Billboard Top Ten. It is a very danceable track and shows Britney having fun with the song.
8.) "Stronger" produced by Max Martin and Rami
This song is the third single off of Britney's 2000 album, "Oops! I Did It Again". The song is about Britney learning from love lost and becoming stronger because of it. It is yet another song produced by Max Martin and Rami. The song is kind of a woman's anthem. The song peaked at #11 on the Billboard Top 100, just shy of the Top Ten. The video was also a fan favorite, showing Britney doing some provocative chair dancing and choreography in the rain.
9.) "Lucky" produced by Max Martin and Rami
This song is the second single off of the 2000 album, "Oops! I Did It Again". The song is about an actress who, though has fame and money, is not happy with her life. This song is actually pretty good seeing what state she is in now. The song peaked at #23 on the Billboard Top 100. The video was also very popular on MTV, as well as a recent favorite on www.youtube.com. It shows Britney playing the role of Lucky, the actress with everything except happiness.
10.) "Everytime" produced by Guy Sigsworth
