Top 10 Songs by Eminem

Eminem is easily one of the top 10 rappers around today, and he's one of the few artists whose actual albums are still worth buying. Off those albums, here are ten tracks from the rapper that stand out in my mind:

Half of my picks for his top songs are off his latest album Recovery. I think there are two types of Eminem fans: those who like his new stuff better than the old and those who like his old stuff better than the new. Some of the criticism for his newer stuff is that they are too pop-oriented, not angry enough, etc. I think that's true but I don't see that as being a bad thing.

In fact, I think his newer tracks show that the rapper can stretch himself. He's singing from a range of emotions, not just from anger. The only thing that might be missing from his newer songs is that feeling of desperation that could found on some of his earlier albums. But considering that Recovery comes almost 15 years after his first album Infinite and much success, it makes sense that his tracks might not be as desperate sounding.

Being that his music is usually so personal in nature, the only thing that could make his new songs better is if Eminem was able to sing from a place showing true personal growth. It's not as believable when he's still hatin' on women.
