Top 10 Songs for Halloween

Time to Dust Off the Classics!

Gilbert Neal
Every year, sorta like Christmas, we become happily inundated with the music that only seems to appear during Halloween. It would be silly to play "Monster Mash" in March, if not out and out awkward. But in case you're planning a party and want to snap up some fun, relevant MP3s for you and your friends to enjoy, here are ten you cannot do without.

1. The Monster Mash-Bobby "Boris" Pickett and the Crypt-Kicker Five
How convenient that his middle name was Boris.

2. The Purple People Eater-Sheb Wooley
Were they purple things that ate people, or just purple people? Sheb Wooley appeared in the Clint Eastwood film "The Outlaw Josey Wales", a spooky, spooky film.

3. I Put a Spell on You-Screamin' Jay Hawkins
Again, how handy that his irst name was Screamin'. Don't all babies scream? Actually, Hawkins was the first real "shock rocker".

4. Fire-The Crazy World of Arthur Brown
Very creepy, very scary. Kinda funny, too. "I AM THE GOD OF HELL FIRE!!" Ok! Ok! Another one-hit shock rocker.

5. Fire on High - Electric Light Orchestra
The title might not ring a bell, but this instrumental track (especially the first two minutes or so) but this track will be instantly familiar, and instantly scaaaarrryyyyy!!!!

6. In The Hall of the Mountain King - Grieg
Picture Mickey Mouse carrying buckets of water.

7. Thriller - Michael Jackson
Wear a white glove, learn the dance steps, and you're all set!

8. Tubular Bells - Mike Oldfield
A very popular instrumental track from the mid-Seventies.

9. Time Warp - Rocky Horror Picture Show Soundtrack
Just a turn to the left! A memorable song from the movie that never dies.

10. Ghostbusters - Ray Parker Jr.
Another danceable favorite.
