Top 10 Songs by The Police

Abbitha
The Police were really popular in the late 1970s and 1980s. I was born in 1980, so I was a little young when these songs actually came out. But these songs stuck around long enough and have remained popular. The Police is one of my favorite groups, and these are my favorite songs by The Police. Hopefully, you will appreciate some of the same songs; let me know what you think.

1. Roxanne- Even though this is a song inspired by prostitutes, it is a song I love to sing along to.

2. Message in a bottle- This song is about feeling isolated when you have lost a love, but then at the end there are millions of bottles and he realizes he is not alone. I think the message is good that we are not alone when we are feeling lost or sad. This song was The Polices first number one hit in the UK.

3. Can't stand losing you- The original single was banned in the UK because of the controversial cover, of a individual hanging himself. It still went on to become a popular song.

4. Every breath you take- Sometimes referred to as the stalker song. This song made Rolling Stones list of 500 greatest songs. I know this is one of my favorite songs by The Police. It is also must be Americas favorite, because it was The Polices most popular single.

5. Don't stand so close to me- This song is about a schoolgirl's crush on a teacher, it would be interesting to see if it would get a different reaction if it came out now with all the student--teacher relationships in the news. This is my favorite Police song.

6. Every little thing she does is magic - Wouldn't any girl love to have this song written about her. This song hit number 3 on the US charts. This song reminds me of when my husband and I were first dating.

7. Spirits in the material World- This song starts with a Jamaican ska beat, then changes to a rock beat in the chorus. This is a favorite song of my husbands.

8.De Do Do Do De Da Da Da- According to Sting the song is about peoples attraction to simple songs. It is a catchy song, that sticks in your head. I guess Sting was right about the simple songs.

9. King of Pain- This song reached number 3 on the US charts. It was also parodied by Weird Al as "king of Suede". You know you have a popular song when it gets parodied by Weird Al. I like how this song seems to be the masculine reaction to being sad about a break up.

10. Synchroncity II- This song refers to Carl Jung's theory of Synchrocity. This song has been called an aggressive song by The Police. This is a song that tells a story staring with a working mans day ending with something out of a horror movie.

    Sorry, but your list blows.
    Its just the hits.

The hits are never the best songs. Clearly, this band didn't really mean anything to you..

Love all these songs! I need to see them on tour if I can. I have their "Message In A Box" CD set, and it was one of the best music purchases that I ever made!
