I remember as a kid riding around in an older friend's Cutlass listening to Tupac Shakur (2 Pac). This was in the early days before 2 Pac joined Death Row. I couldn't get over how I liked every song I listened to by Tupac Shakur (2 Pac). At that time, it was just about the entertainment of the music as I was too young to really find any type of message.
Tupac Shakur (2 Pac) is the only true artist to enter rap genre. His music turned a lot of heads by opening up his fears and pains, and painting a picture of his sins and circumstances. He would often sing that his rough past would lead to his eventual death, and it did. When Tupac Shakur (2 Pac) signed with Death Row he worked with Dr. Dre, one of the greatest musical minds in the rap business. This fusion of Tupac Shakur's (2 Pac's) lyrics with Dr. Dre's beats brought Tupac Shakur (2 Pac) to a pinnacle of popularity. Each of Tupac Shakur's (2 Pac's) songs hit the listeners a different way, and touching on a different subject was thereby touching on a new pain. This makes it hard to make a Top 10 songs list of Tupac Shakur's (2 Pac's) music. I'm sure every time I look at my list I will want to change something as Tupac Shakur's (2 Pac's) music is like a wine, one being the right choice for one occasion while another one will be the perfect choice for another time.
The List
1) Hit Em Up- I like this song because you get to see 2 Pac's anger and wit come out as he speaks to his enemies.
2) Staring Through My Rear View- I like how 2Pac expresses his impending doom in this song.
3) Dear Mama- I like this song for the way 2Pac tributes his mother and his way of showing his appreciation for her.
4) Keep Your Head Up- I like this song for it's strong and rare pro women message you don't often hear in the world of rap music..
5) Changes- I like this song for the way 2Pac puts you into a criminals desperate situation. Here's a lyric that's a perfect example of what I'm talking about, "My stomach hurts so I'm looking for a purse to snatch."
6) Pour Out a Little Liquor- I like this song as it made a tribute to 2 Pac's fallen friends.
7) Hail Mary- I like this song because 2 Pac let's us into his anger.
8) California Love- This is 2 Pac's most popular song, it's less message and more mainstream but I like it because it's a song you can just play and enjoy.
9) Me Against the World- The title says it all. I like this song because we all feel that way sometimes.
10) 2 of Americaz Most Wanted- Another main steam project that I like for it's for laid back listening.
Outro
Please note this list is in no specific order. Like I said earlier, it was hard enough just to come up with a Top 10. To put them in a specific order would only serve correct for a single moment. All in All, I'm happy with this Top 10 as I feel it gives a nice balance of what Tupac Shakur brought us both as a messenger and as an entertainer.
