Top 10 Songs for a New Year's Eve Party

For a New Year's Eve Party Where People Actually Dance!

Sherri Thornhill
Let me just state this right off, it isn't a party if no one is dancing. Dancing, flirting, laughing and mingling are what make for a great party, especially on New Year's Eve. Now that I have said that, you understand my criteria for picking the top 10 songs for a New Year's Eve party. Without further adieu, here are my choices!

Top 10 Songs for a New Year's Eve Party

Black Eyed Peas- "I Gotta Feeling". You knew I was picking this song, admit it! This Black Eyed Peas song will make you want to jump around and throw your hands in the air. It is a party song and it's a feel good song. "I gotta feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night", those lyrics are perfect for New Year's Eve.

Lady Gaga- "Just Dance". Lady Gaga is a strange bird, but she knows how to put out a great dance song. This will have the people at the party moving and singing along. Lady Gaga's real name is Stefania Gabriella Germanotta. "Just dance" is off of her album called The Fame. If people at your party aren't dancing when this song comes on, check to make sure they are still breathing.

Flo Rida- "Right Round". Flo Rida redid this 1980's song and put a hip-hop spin on it. The results make for a great sound (though I'm partial to the original song). Even if you can't really dance, you'll still find yourself moving your head around and tapping your toes. It has a great beat and flow, just what you need for your New Year's Eve party.

Adam Lambert- "For Your Entertainment". With Adam Lambert's performance on the AMA's, a lot of people were paying more attention to his antics and missed out on the song. "For Your Entertainment" is really a good song with an electric-pop sound full of attitude. You need a little attitude on New Year's Eve, and if you can't flirt with someone by lip synching this song, something's wrong.

Justin Timberlake- "Sexy Back". This is still a wonderfully flirtatious dance song, and it will be a hit to play at your party. It's on Timberlake'sFuture Sex/ Love Sounds CD and as soon as the first 3 chords are played, you'll know its "Sexy Back". Go ahead and "get your sexy on" and put this song on your play list for New Year's Eve.

Storm Large- "You and You and Me". Some will remember Storm Large from her participation on a reality TV show called Rock Star Supernova. She was trying to become the lead singer of a band full of well known musicians. Luckily she didn't win because that band came and went. Storm is a fixture in the Portland, Oregon area but has been out touring. Her song, "You and You and Me" is rock, edgy and cocky and I love it! "Delicious is this energy. Between you and you and me..." You need this on your New Year's Eve playlist, trust me.

Pink- "So What". Like Storm, Pink is a self-confident rocker girl who knows how to make good music. "Well so what, I am a rock star, I got my rock moves and I don't need you tonight!" This will make all the single people at the party feel good, especially if they are only recently single. You'll be yelling out the lyrics and talking smack about ex's just in time to let it go and get ready for a new year with your next ex-girlfriend or boyfriend!

Jay Sean- "Down". This is a little R&B/Hip-Hop for your mix. Jay Sean's song has a nice dance beat, catchy chorus, and you can use the clean or not so clean version of the song. Nothing wrong with a little R&B on New Year's Eve.

Weezer- "If You're Wondering if I Want You to". This Weezer song makes me smile. It's fun, flirtatious and infectious..and if the person you are interested in hooking up with is shy, this is a great song to help them along. "Girl, if you're wondering if I want you to, I want you to!"

Kylie Minogue- "All I See". You can always count on Kylie Minogue for a great dance song, and "All I See" is a wonderful New Year's Eve party song. It's a slow, dance song with a great beat, it's sexy. This is a song that makes you grab that very special someone and forget there is anybody else in the room. "Doesn't matter what's going on or who's around us..all I see is you." It has to make your New Year's Eve party song playlist if you want your old year to end well and your new year to start right.

Happy New Year's, enjoy your party and the music.

I'm like Joycee and Tony...never heard these songs. But you know why! I'm an all contemporary Christian music listener. :-) But I know these are the popular artist with other folks right now, so it sounds like you will have a blast New Years.

Great job on the descriptions. It "educated" me.
