Top 10 SonicFlood Songs

No matter who you are or what kind of music you listen to, you have a list of the top 10 songs the band or singer has; SonicFLOOD is a band that has many wonderful songs. It is hard to pick just a top ten because of their vast amounts of music. SonicFlood is a Christian worship band that originated in Nashville, Tennessee. They came out in 1999 with their self titled album. To date, they have 9 albums and have won 3 awards. The members consist of Rick Heil, Phil Baquire, Branden Taulbee, McKendree Tucker and Chris Knight. SonicFlood is considered to be the starting band of the worship movement. Here are some of their top songs.

Psalm 91: This is an awesome song. It has a great beat and follows the Biblical chapter. SonicFlood isn't the only band that did this, Jars of Clay did it as well with Psalm 53. It gives listeners a new look on the chapter and makes audiences wonder if that is how the psalm would have sounded like. The vocals of Rick Heil are amazing with this song. It gives praise to God, saying you are my God, you are my refuge and strength. I love this song it makes me want to get up and dance.

A Heart Like Yours: This is a slower song and means so much to me. It asks God to give us a heart like His; his compassion and see things the way that He sees things. It almost feels like a prayer calling out to God trying to be a better person and wanting a heart as gold. A Heart Like Yours is one of those songs that makes your heart rench and you cry because you know you need a better relationship with Jesus.

Dear Lord: Dear Lord is another song that is like a prayer crying out to Jesus. It is a slow ballad and you can hear pain and desire in Rick's voice. We need Jesus in our lives and this song reminds listeners of that fact and that we need to call on HIm when we are in times of need. This song helped me deal with having cancer and other hardships that life has thrown at me. The beat to it is something that you can close your eyes and stop what you are doing to just listen to it. One of the lyrics: You set me free is probably one of the most powerful lyrics I have heard in a long time.

Holy And Anointed One: This song, is a worship song, an awesome worship song. Whenever I am feeling depressed or upset I turn this song and remember that Jesus is the holy and anointed one. There is a female voice that outshines in this song, standing out among the others during the chorus. It is one of those songs that makes you ant to get up and dance while singing on the top of your lungs even if you can't carry a tune. I have sung this song many times in youth group and it helped build my relationship with Christ and continues to help it grow stronger.

All I've Failed To Be: A lot of SonicFlood's top songs are ones that are like prayers crying out to God for help and for mercy. This song cries out "break me, take me, make me all I've failed to be." When listeners hear the song, we think about our own relationships with Jesus and everything we may have failed to be in this life. There are times when we succeed, but also when we fail and we tend to give up when we fail, but this song makes us see that we need God sometimes to help us succeed at being all we are meant to be.

You Are: Here is another worship song that stands out among the other SonicFlood songs, and other worship songs. It is a simple song with lyrics saying everything that God is and everything that He means to Christians. Again it makes me want to get up and dance and want to hear more from this group. When looking at new songs for my worship team at church to sing this song is one of the songs on the list. It is easy to listen to, easy to sing and it isn't too loud like some other songs that could "hurt your ears."

Carried Away: This was the first worship song that I heard when I first became a Christian and it is one of my all time favorites. It says I want to get carried away by faith in Christ and get lost in his ways. Carried Away is one of those songs that brings out the things you want but cannot find the words to say them. It isn't a slow ballad like some of the other prayer like songs, but it is one that gets you pumped up and ready to wanting to be more for God and wanting to Surrender all to him. Carried Away is always going to be on the top of my all time favorite worship songs.

Did You Feel The Mountains Tremble: Did You Feel is one of the songs that my church sings from time to time and it is a great song. It makes you think of how strong your faith can be that it could move mountains. It starts out really slow and then picks up more as the song goes on. The more people have faith in Christ and speak up about our faith; we can accomplish so much. When we let Christ in, we open the doors to so many different possibilities and open our hearts to a new beginning and that is what this song makes me think of every time I hear it.

In Your Presence: When you begin to listen to this song, there isn't a musical beginning it starts right into the song which I like. The band sings about being different in God's presence, feeling his touch and healing our bodies. When I heard some of the lyrics to this song it made me cry. There is a lot to think about and this song like many of the band's other songs, makes you think about never understanding God's wonder and the things that he does for us. I like how this band makes you think and reevaluate your relationship with Christ.

I Surrender All: I stumbled across this one looking for new songs to listen to and sing. I haven't seen it on any SonicFlood cd's but the version I downloaded said it was them. It is a short and simple song. Not too much to the lyrics other than I surrender all to the maker of day." "He doesn't love us because of who we are, he only loves us because of who he is."Those aren't all of the lyrics, but the ones that stand out to me. God doesn't HAVE to love us, there are things about us that can be considered unloveable, but God still loves us unconditionally. This song always makes me think of how unworthy I am of His love, yet He still loves me. Now that is grace and unconditional love.

SonicFlood is one of the first bands I listened to as a new Christian. Their worship songs helped me see a different side of Christianity. Their songs of prayer have become my prayers when I couldn't find the words to express what my soul was feeling. SonicFlood has been around for a very long time, 10 years, and I see them being around for much longer. I know they will keep coming out with new songs that will be added to the list of their top greatest songs.
