Top 10 Thanksgiving Movies:
Home for the holidays - A fun movie with an award-winning cast. Holly Hunter comes home to spend Thanksgiving with her entire extended, dysfunctional family.
What's cooking? - A wonderful tale of four culturally diverse families (Jewish, African-American, Vietnamese, and Latino) and their unique Thanksgiving preparations.
Pieces of April - A comedy/drama that tells the story of a young woman who invites her estranged family for Thanksgiving dinner. Can she manage to make an edible meal and will her family show up?
Hannah and Her Sisters - Considered to be one of Woody Allen's best films and the winner of three Oscars, this movie will bring you to tears, as well as have you in fits of laughter. An all-star cast, witty dialog, and a heart-felt story make this a not-to-be-missed movie.
The House of Yes - A dark, off-beat movie about a man who brings his fiancé home for Thanksgiving to meet his dysfunctional family. (What is it about Thanksgiving movies and dysfunctional families?)
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving - No list of Thanksgiving movies would be complete without this animated classic. I fondly remember watching this movie on TV every year when I was young. This is a great movie choice to get your family in the mood for Thanksgiving
Alice's Restaurant - Thanksgiving in the time of peace, love, and the Vietnam War. A young man avoids being drafted as a result of his Thanksgiving Day activities.
Dutch - A man volunteers to collect his girlfriend's spoiled son from boarding school and bring him home for Thanksgiving. The son does not want to come home for Thanksgiving and what follows is a road trip filled with misadventures.
Miracle on 34th Street - A perfect Thanksgiving movie that will put you in the mood for Christmas. This movie is about a man who wishes to be legally declared the real Santa Claus and is chosen to be the Santa for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
And now for the final movie on my list of Top 10 Thanksgiving Movies - and yes, I have saved the best for last...
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles - This movie is the perfect Thanksgiving movie. Starring Steve Martin and the late John Candy, this movie has a great storyline, wonderful dialog, and hilarious scenes you will laugh about for days or even weeks after you see it. If you have not seen it, please put this movie on your list for this Thanksgiving.
That concludes my list of the Top 10 Thanksgiving Movies. I wish you a very happy Thanksgiving full of good food and a good Thanksgiving movie.

Post a CommentI didn't realize there were so many Thanksgiving themed movies. Planes, Trains and Automobiles is one of my favorite movies. I watch it every year a few days before Thanksgiving. It's hilarious, but also very touching - makes me teary eyed every year.
Charlie Brown is my favorite! Great list.
