When Thanksgiving rolls around, most homes that celebrate have a turkey cooking in the oven. The turkey meal is one of the most popular traditions in the U.S whether you have a real turkey or a vegan one. It is usually served with stuffing, cranberries and mashed potatoes.

One of my favorite traditions that is also a top Thanksgiving tradition in the U.S. is giving thanks. People gather around the table, taking turns to say what they are thankful for. It is a good message to teach to children and adults alike, to find something positive to say on this special day.

When I was a kid, my favorite tradition was the wishbone. I'd take it out from the turkey, let it dry and pull it with another family member. The person left with most of the wishbone, got a wish. Families all over the US do the same thing, trying to win the Thanksgiving wish.
