Having healthy skin is essential to reduce wrinkles and acne, as well as to keep your face looking beautiful. The following skin care tips will only promote the health and wellness of your skin. There are only 10 tips to follow, because anymore would be too many to remember, and would shadow the more important things you should do. Read on for ways to properly care for your skin. Most of these tips focus on the face, but can also be used to care for your entire body.

Before you begin caring for your skin, know your skin type. Most products are recommended for a certain type, so unknowingly choosing a face wash can do more damage than good to your skin.

Wash your face regularly. Use a gentle exfoliating facial cleanser with luke warm water once or twice a day. It is important to remove the built up dirt and oils from your face to reduce the chances of a pimple breakout.

Be gentle with your skin. Do not scrub your face raw, but simply lather the face wash on it by gently rubbing. Also, do not over use your skin care products, and do not purchase a ton. 1-3 skin care products is sufficient, and even that many should not be used every single day.

Do not allow your skin to become dry. Dryness causes cracks and breaks in your skin, which can lead to rough skin, and can be painful. Use a moisturizer on your skin daily, as soon as you step out of the shower. Applying while your skin is still damp will help lock in moisture to prevent your skin from becoming a desert.

Do not use regular body washes and bar soaps on your face. They are not made for the delicate skin that covers your face. Be sure to purchase a separate facial cleanser.
Apply sunblock if you are going to be outside for long periods of time, especially in the summer. Use these even on cloudy days, as you can still get burned even when the sun is hiding. A good way of applying this is using a moisturizer that has sun protection.

Consult a dermatologist before using skin care products on your face or body. Many people do not do this, and it can be damaging to the skin. You may not realize the effects that certain products can have on you, and it's better to be safe than sorry!

Reduce your stress levels. Stress is harmful to your entire body, which includes your skin.

Drink your recommended daily intake of water. Hydrating your skin will keep it looking wonderful.

Get in some exercise, and plenty of sleep. It may seem strange that this is a skin care tip, but being active keeps the skin taut on your body, and good sleeping habits prevent bags and wrinkles under your eyes.
