Top 10 Unexplained Phenomena

Science seeks to explain the complexities of nature and use these explanations to make useful predictions. This is how we learned to harness energy and help cure the sick. However, there are some mysteries science cannot explain...yet. The paranormal world. Hopefully, one day, we will be able to fully comprehend and understand it.

Top 10 Unexplained Phenomena:

10. The Body/Mind Connection. We understand that the mind influences the body, but we do not understand how. Many people can relieve themselves of medical symptoms by believing they are taking medicines to cure the symptoms, when they are unknowingly taking placeboes.

9. Psychic Powers and ESP (Extra-Sensory Perception). These beliefs are so widespread. People who claim to have psychic powers have been tested, but so far, results have been negative or ambiguous. Many say these powers cannot be tested because they diminish in the presence of skeptics or scientists. Wow! How will science ever be able to prove or disprove them?

8. Near-Death Experiences and Life After Death. Every living person wants to know if there is an existence beyond the grave. Many people who have had near-death experiences report going into a tunnel, being reunited with loved ones, and a sense of peace. But no one has returned with proof. Skeptics say it is just the hallucinations of a traumatized brain.

7. UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects). Technically, UFOs exist-ranging from aircraft to meteors we see in the skies that we cannot identify. But are some of these objects alien spacecraft? Investigations have revealed known causes for most sightings, but some UFO incidents are unexplainable.

6. Déjà vu. A French phrase meaning "already seen," refers to a mysterious feeling of having experienced a specific set of circumstances before. For example, walking into a building in a foreign country you have never visited, and sensing you have been there before because it seems intimately familiar. The cause of this remains a mystery.

5. Ghosts. Ghosts have always appeared in our culture and folklore. Many people report seeing apparitions of strangers and departed loved ones. People say they have photographed and communicated with ghosts. Yet, the definitive proof of ghosts remains elusive. Ghost investigators hope to provide an answer to the mystery one day.

4. Mysterious Disappearances. People disappear for various reasons, but most are eventually found. Truly mysterious disappearances, such as Amelia Earhart, seem to have vanished without a trace. When evidence is lacking and leads are lost, science cannot always solve the crime.

3. Intuition. We all have experienced this gut feeling one time or another. Sometimes we are right, other times we are wrong. Psychologists say people subconsciously pick up information around them, leading to a sense of knowing information without knowing how or why they know it. But cases of intuition are difficult to prove or study.

2. Bigfoot. Even though these hairy, manlike beasts are reported across America, not one single body has been found. Without hard evidence, eyewitness sightings and ambiguous photos and films are the only thing we can investigate. Since science cannot prove a universal negative, we will never be able to prove that Bigfoot does not exist.

1. The Taos Hum. In Taos, New Mexico, a faint low-frequency hum can be heard in the desert air. No one has been able to locate the sound's origin, but many people suspect mass hysteria or some secret, sinister purpose.

For many of these, science has offered better explanations than you give them credit for. I'm surprised you didn't include God and/or religious miracles.
