Top 10 Unique Holiday Gift Basket Ideas

Richard Banks
The best way to give a gift this holiday season is to create a unique holiday gift basket. Homemade gift baskets are more personal and unique than the average store-bought gift basket. There will not be a lot of preparation, except to prepare your mind for unique ideas. Listed are my top 10 unique holiday gift basket ideas.

Art Supplies Basket

Do you have a budding artist on your list? The perfect gift basket is an art bag or basket filled with all of the supplies needed to assist the next Picasso. In the spirit of unique holiday gift basket ideas, paint various designs on the bag or basket.

Movie Night Basket

Great movie night holiday gift baskets need to include three things, popcorn, soda and a movie. Purchase a microwaveable bucket of popcorn. Fill the bucket with the favorite movie of the recipient and a can of soda. For added enjoyment, throw in a box of theater box candy. Wrap and enjoy.

Game Time Basket

During the holidays, sporting events are on the top of everyone's mind. A unique holiday gift basket idea for the sports lover would keep game day in mind. The basket consists of a travel cooler, a six-pack of soda/beer, depending on the recipient's preference, and a salty snack. Depending on how much you want to spend, you could even include a couple of sports tickets.

Pet Friendly Basket

Don't forget about the four-legged family members. Whether it's for your own pet or a family member's, a pet-friendly gift basket is always a unique idea. The gift basket includes a food/water bowl and items such as treats, brushes and toys.

Meditation Basket

Quiet time is needed after stressful holiday events. Creative and unique holiday gift basket ideas to inspire relaxation and meditation include a potpourri bowl as the gift basket. Inside are various oils, incense, candles, a lighter and a meditation bell.

Quilter's Paradise Basket

Quilters are always searching for their next project. Purchase a swatch of fabric as the gift basket. Include items needed to create a quilt, including a variety of fabrics, and sew the outer fabric together to create your "basket." Remember -- unique holiday gift basket ideas need to be creative and a bit eccentric.

Early Bird Gardener Basket

The weather doesn't always cooperate with our planting needs, but unique holiday gift basket ideas will assist you in giving the right gift. Your gift basket is essentially a ceramic pot. Include planting essentials such as seeds, a small container of soil and a bottle of water. Fresh flowers are waiting.

Sweet Tooth Basket

Unique holiday gift basket ideas to satisfy the sweet tooth include a mason jar filled with pre-measured ingredients to create a delicious dessert. Include cooking instructions. The smell of warm sugar cookies, brownies or hot cocoa awaits.

Baby Days Basket

Holiday gift baskets for babies always seem to include bath items. Thinking out of the box means creating a basket made of diapers. Included in the gift basket are baby wipes, coupons for formula, diaper rash cream and a CD of soothing sounds for those stressful times.

Dad's Work Day Basket

Every year, a dad's gift is the same. Most dads head off to work on the weekdays, so create a gift basket that suits his needs. The basket is a lunch container. Inside put the essentials of the day, such as pen, note pad, extra tie, a day planner and a matching pair of black socks.

This holiday season will have a common message: unique creativity. The days of giving boring, pre-made gifts are over. Gifts will need to be simple, thoughtful and creative.

Great ideas. We artsy/craftsy people have been waiting for traditional store buyers to get a bit more crafty with their gifts.

So glad that people are starting to realize that homemade is better. I've been making homemade baskets for years, and also started selling them a few years ago. They're a huge hit because they don't looked mass produced and shows that the person put a lot of thought into it (even if I was the one assembling it).

Great ideas, and these are so much nicer is you make them yourself too.
