2. Karostas Cietums, Liepaja Latvia. Are you a ghost hunter and history buff aching for a Soviet era prison cell. Stay here on the cheap for around $10 dollars per night.
3. Dasparkhotel, Ottensheim Austria. Andreas Strauss launched this hotel as an eco friendly project. Check into one of these 10 ton drainpipes off of the Danube. Amenities are sparse and include a skylight, lamp, electronic door, and an extra thick custom mattress. Rates start at $40 per night.
4. Icehotel, Jukkasjarvi, Sweden. No need to worry if the air conditioning is going to work here. The Icehotel offers one of the coolest hotel experiences around. Accommodations are surprisingly luxurious, just bring some warm clothing and your credit card, rates start at around $230 a night.
5. Svinoy Lighthouse, Alesund Norway. Who wouldn't want to stay in a lighthouse. This experience would be a sure hit for those who love lighthouses. Rates are fairly reasonable and have been found for as little as $90 per night.
6. Capsule Hotel, The Netherlands. Spend a night rolling across the ocean enjoying the gentle bobbing up and down. Surprise here, rooms even contain karaoke machines for those who want to get there groove on. Rates range from around 100-200 per night.
7. Park Plane Hotel, Waitomo, New Zealand. Love airplanes? Stay in this treasured Bristol B-170. Rooms even contain the correct buttons, knobs and instrumentation. Nightly rates begin around $100.
8. Caesars Pocono Resorts, Pocono Mountains Pennsylvania. Perfect for hopeless romantics, rooms can include 2 story tall champagne glasses that double as hot tubs as well as your personal heart shaped tub in each room. Weekend rates begin around $350 for an all inclusive stay.
9. Null Stern Hotel, Teufen Switzerland. This art inspired hotel is an eco-luxury hotel converted out of a Swiss nuclear bunker. Perfect for history buffs who are looking for an eco friendly hotel. Stay on the cheap here for between $8 and $30 per night.
10. Desert Cave Hotel, South Australia. Is it a casino or a cave? Escape the desert heat by staying in this ultra hip cave. You won't need much money, unless of course your headed to the casino, rates start around $70 per night.
Each of these hotels offer the adventurous traveler something unique as they search the world for a new place to stay. Some are more expensive than others, but there is at least a handful of hotels in this list that we would all love to stay in.
