Most cameos in video games consist of obscure characters and items from a developers lesser known franchises. Case in paint: Mobi-Chan(from Side Arms: Hyper Dyne) has popped up in various Capcom games over the years. Cameos featured in this article are a lot more obscure because most don't have an obvious connection to the games or companies themselves.
10. Sonic in Super Smash Brothers Brawl.
Sonic the Hedgehog being in a Nintendo game doesn't have the same "holy snap!" effect that it should have. It's probably because SEGA is no longer a console maker, thus their games have appeared on Nintendo systems before. It's neat that he made the cut for Brawl, but not that surprising now.
9. Shaq in Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2.
Steve Nash says Shaquille O'Neal stole his "Shaq vs." idea. I say they both stole it from Midway, makers of Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2. Shaq's boxing skills in real life are trash compared to what he does in the game(much like his current abilities on the basketball court.)
8. Snoop Dogg in True Crime: Streets of LA.
Unlock Snoop by finding 30 dog bones throughout the game. I kid you not. That is indeed how you unlock Snoop Dogg. After finding all his scooby snacks, you get to shoot at people, while Snoop talks trash the whole time.Ain't that some shizzle?
7. Hornet in Fighters Megamix.
Fighters Megamix was an ingenues concept to begin with. Take two great 3D fighting franchises( Virtua Fighter & Fighting Vipers), and pit them against each other to the delight of everybody who owned a Sega Saturn. Throwing in one of the cars from Daytona USA just sweetened the deal. I always figured that, if they had to, all cars would pop a wheelie and box people with their front tires. Seems like it would be a great security measure against theft.
6. Fred Durst in Fight Club: The Game.
Why is Fred Durst in the Fight Club video game? Meat Loaf is in the game as well, but it's okay because he was in the movie. Fred Durst has no reason for being an unlockable character. It should deter anyone from actually finishing this wretch of a game. I get to unlock Fred Durst If I go further in the story mode? No thank you, let him stay locked.
5. Fred Durst in Smackdown!: Just Bring It.
Why is Freddy Durstin is this game as well? Wait, didn't he do the entrance theme for Undertaker when he was going through his midlife crisis/undead biker storyline? I guess that makes sense. At least when you beat up Fred Durst in this game, you can actually have fun because it's pretty good, as apposed to Fight Club.
4. Bill Clinton in NBA Jam TE.
While he was in office, Clinton somehow ended up as a hidden character in the home ports of NBA Jam Tournament Edition. He was joined by the likes of Will Smith, Prince Charles, Frank Thomas and The Beastie Boys.
3. Leonard Nimoy in Seaman.
While not visually present in this strange but fun SEGA Dreamcast title, Star Trek alum Leonard Nimoy did lend hisdulcet tones to Seaman's Narration. Which begs the question: is a smart mouthed talking fish cooler than Spock talking about a smart mouthed talking fish?
2. Michael Jackson in Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2.
Like Shaq, Michael had his own video game in the 16 bit era. His appearance in Round 2 was just as weird as the concept of Moonwalker being to rescue little children...Jackson's diamond encrusted boxing glove cemented this game as being one of the greatest boxing games ever(his excessive wooing during and before fights almost ruined it though.)
1. John Romero in Doom 2.
John Romero helped design the Doom series of video games. If you activated the no-clip code(which is different for every version of Doom II), it's revealed that he is the real final boss of this game. it's somewhat poetic when you think about it Your final objective is to kill the creator with his own creation. That's deep, if not a tad bit creepy.
