Top 10 Ways Americans Spent Their 2008 Economic Stimulus Checks

Last spring millions of Americans received an unexpected windfall -- checks from the federal government. Since then, the United States Federal Bureau of Statistics (USFEDBS), a fictional government agency created to track useless statistics, has been closely monitoring the results of the 2008 Economic Stimulus Checks to gauge their impact on the American economy.

The checks, part of the 2008 Economic Stimulus Act, were designed to boost the American economy by providing extra money for Americans to spend.

"The act was created so that average Americans would have extra money to buy consumer goods, thus dumping billions back into the American economy," according to Alan Hineke, spokesperson for the USFEDBS.

To demonstrate the effectiveness of the 2008 Economic Stimulus Act, the USFEDBS recently released the results of the ways Americans spent their Economic Stimulus checks, tabulated for the first time here.

10. The remaining 1% was divided between paying back taxes, job hunting, food, paying off student loans, getting a new tattoo and/or piercing, renewing their ad on Yahoo Personals, buying lottery tickets and postponing utter destitution for a few weeks.

"We're really excited by the ways the citizens of this great land contributed to the American economy," said Hineke. "Clearly the data show just how effective the 2008 Economic Stimulus Act was in boosting our economy."

I can bet mine went to pay bills, but isn't it strange that most of the money went overseas to support them rather than the USA? I liked the USFEDBS too, I will bet you if they would admit it the FDS part is for Federal Bull Shitters. That fits all politicians I think even without a special Bureau being created to point them out. Great work! Johnny Yuma

The economic stimulus package has to be one of the worst ideas used by politicians in recent years.
