Women love to be shown by their husbands how much they mean to them. One way husbands can achieve this is to make sure that they do not forget their wedding anniversary. Forget some other day, but do not forget your wedding anniversary! Wives will not appreciate this. So jot the day down on your calendar if you are bad at remembering the day you were married and plan in advance how you will treat your wife. Some men find the idea of buying wedding anniversary gifts really difficult and stressful. They want to please their wives but are unsure about what to buy. What would she like? Does she already have this item? If you have been married one year or twenty you may never be entirely sure what your wife will like. You really cannot go wrong when it comes to perfume. It does not have to be a bottle of her usual scent either. Next time you go out, talk to a customer service representative and tell them a little about your wife. That will help to give you some ideas as to whether a flowery or stronger scent would suit your wife. As a starting point, mention what she usually wears and see if there is something that would complement her usual style.

2. One day spa treatment

Ladies love to be pampered, so unless you are willing to roll up your sleeves and give your wife a relaxing body massage, you can treat her to a day of pampering, away from the usual hustle and bustle of her life. Perhaps you can join her and enjoy your own pampering session.

3. Make up tool kit

Women can never have too much in their make up kit! Look at what she normally wears. When you visit the pharmacy try to find a make up kit that she can use. Do her brushes and make up applicators need to be replaced? She will love a new make up kit to be able to apply her make up with. It is a practical gift idea that she will be able to put to use right away.

4. Makeover/ photo shoot

This is another gift idea that will make your wife feel special. Pay for her to have her make up applied for her by a professional and for a photo shoot afterwards. She will feel wonderful and really thank you for this gift! You can then place some photos in your wallet and feel proud of how beautiful and special your wife is to you.

5. Anniversary ring

Make sure you know your wife's ring size before you buy her an anniversary ring. Try to also find out what kind of ring she would like. Does she like diamonds? How about sapphires? Some women like to receive an eternity ring after few years of marriage. Try to ensure that whatever you choose will complement her existing engagement and wedding ring set. Sometimes, the best way is to just ask your wife what she would like. Do this by casually asking her if she sees any rings that she likes the look of next time you are at the mall. It might blow your cover, but it is best to get her a ring she will like to begin with, rather than face the disappointment of having to return it and exchange it for another one.

6. Gold locket

Sometimes it pays to be sentimental. Add a photo of you in her locket and that will really make the gift extra special. We wives like nothing better than having our husbands close to our heart! We can then show off our husband's picture to our friends.

7. Clothes

Be careful if you decide to buy your wife clothes. You need to know her dress size and the style of clothes she likes to wear. I would suggest extra caution with this gift idea because it can easily backfire if you are not careful. You need to really be very aware of what she especially likes and dislikes, so that you can easily distinguish what to avoid and what she will happily accept. An elegant evening dress may be a safer buy. My husband is very good at picking out clothes that suit and flatter my figure. Perhaps you are the same.

8. Scrapbook

It does not have to be elaborate and 50 pages long! Keep it simple if this is your first scrapbook by collecting clippings and cut outs from events you have both attended together in the past year and photos of you both together. Throughout the year, write her some love letters and store them away until your anniversary. Include details such as how much you love her and ways in which she enriches your life. The result will be a genuinely touching and personal gift that she will adore. I make my husband an anniversary scrapbook each year as a gift. Even though I lost my sense of surprise after the first year, he still likes the effort I put in.

If all else fails, you can always buy your wife flowers and chocolates, unless of course she is diabetic, in which case, I would just stick with flowers and a teddy bear. This is something else I do each year. I have had cakes professionally made and I have also bought cheap little cakes too, that were more practical to carry when we flew to our anniversary destination. There is no need to go overboard. Just remember why you and your wife got married and how happy you are that you are still together. Reminisce with your wife and you will enjoy your wedding anniversary as much as she does.
